  1. Game time Monday is 7 pm.
  2. I find it kind of interesting that P.J. Carstensen who did our game last night in Can't that wasn't over until 9:15 pm or so, also did today's noon game between the Hoosiers and Spartans in Bloomington, Indiana. That's a heck of a turnaround in terms of travel. It's about a six hour drive from here to Bloomington and the earliest commercial flight arrival time this morning to Indy from CLE I could find (based on next Saturday's flights) for today was 9:30 am and not direct. Then it is a 1 hour drive to Bloomington from the airport. Cutting it close I would think. I've seen Larry Scirotto do the same type of thing. I guess it happens a lot, but I'm not sure I'd want that guy doing my game a little more than 12 hours later the next day. Maybe they're all pilots, too? Definitely road warriors.
  3. My exact thoughts. He was obviously unprepared. Don't forget Deejay (after the color guy just referred to the pronunciation guide), Anteeno and a mangling of Robotham. I did notice, however, that in the UA game notes pronunciation guide they have Antino's name as an-TE-no. I'm not sure that is as clear as it could be. I would think, though, that the SID covers some of those harder names with the announcers before the game.
  4. They did mention the reason for the purple uniforms during the game, although that is even more reason to not stumble on the Peters name on the jerseys.
  5. Well, that is what they get paid to do. All three of them are Big Ten refs, too. I only count three steps after the last dribble, but I believe that is still one too many.
  6. The women's game against BGSU on Saturday has just recently popped up on the MAC Digital Network listing. Looks like it may be free instead of paying for the feed through BGSU. I think the same thing happened with the men's game there.
  7. A see a lot of the refs who do MAC games a day or two later doing top Big Ten and other conference games, so I'm not going to complain much about officiating. It is what it is. Can it be better at times? Sure. As far as our free throw discrepancy, it seems pretty consistent over the year. As 1981 grad mentions, being 3rd in the nation in taking 3 pointers and 160th in percentage may have something to do with it.
  8. Just noticed that. I wonder what the deal is there. I'm sure not going to pay for what will probably be at best a mediocre at best feed from Oxford. I think they'd get more takers for $3-5.
  9. That is true, but "The two teams played for the MAC tournament championship every year from 2009 to 2013." is not. (Unless you consider every team technically "plays for the tournament championship.")
  10. #1 (that's OU's remaining schedule) has been corrected on cleveland.com, but #2 is still wrong. Veteran writer (Warsinskey) for the PD should be better. Where, oh where have you gone, Willie Alvarez?
  11. I just hope the Zips can contain Willie Alvarez tonight.
  12. It may be better to start Deji and/or have him play more against Buffalo just because of our size differential with their guards. We were already small with Noah and Nyles starting. Antino and Nyles make us even smaller. I'm not sure I get the case for the "twin towers" combo. Kwan is big enough at 6' 9" to combine with Forsythe. I'd like to see Kwan be more aggressive inside and at mid-range anyway.
  13. I was mistaken. Both games were awful. No team of the four shot 40% and the Zips teams combined for 43 turnovers. Ouch.
  14. Both the men's and women's Akron and Can't games have been covered the last two weekends by ABJ "staff reports." And why did GT write a feature article on the Browns logo yesterday? Not sure what the deal is over there anymore. Do the beat reporters get weekends off?
  15. Great ad in the ABJ today for the Toledo game. Does anybody over there read their own newspaper? After Willie Alvarez, last weekend's "Central Michigan" headline score and today maybe we should start an ABJ/media snafu thread? Or maybe it will be too full all the time.
  16. Don't give Reghi too much credit. It took him a couple of games to get it right. During the Can't game he made a point of telling the audience that Jackson's name wasn't Antonio and proceeded to call him AnTEEno the rest of the game. Probably a common mistake, but still wrong. There's a pronunciation guide in every media game notes put out by the school. He probably got corrected after the Can't game.
  17. My walk in from the Route 8 parking deck last night was brutal enough. I can see why some students might not want to walk across a frigid, windswept Jackson field from the dorms to go to a game after already being on campus earlier. I've wondered at times, especially in bad weather, if they run any Roo Express type buses from the Exchange Street dorms to the JAR for games. It sounds from your comment like they don't. Seems like a no-brainer to me. It could drop off students at the end of the old College Street near the softball field and not get caught up in the main game traffic.
  18. I understand all the discussion about Antino's extended minutes last night (although he came out just a little over a minute after the media timeout), but you just can't have Walters (as well as he played) out there in a position to take a crucial shot in the last two minutes. Evans or Deji should have been in the game at that point in my humble opinion. Surely Nyles can play point guard for a possession or two. Oh well, Go Zips! Beat the Redhawks!
  19. Thanks. It would be interesting to see the actual viewership numbers in terms of what they lose in the area from ESPN3 when blacked out versus what they gain on TWC. It's bad to lose any potential viewers. They probably get more money regardless.
  20. I'll definitely be there. It should be the better game of the two.
  21. I've always been at these "blacked out" games, so fortunately it hasn't been an issue for me. Who exactly is blacked out? Satellite subscribers and/or other non-TWC customers?
  22. EA covered the Can't game at Toledo on Friday and the Zips game in Ypsilanti on Saturday. Makes sense.
  23. They used the infamous staff reporter for the women's home game against Toledo, too. How many points did "Willie Alvarez" have for Central? I also see the staff reporter covered both the Can't games this past weekend, too.
  24. I've noticed Kretzer wearing blue and gold shoes lately, but that's it.
  25. Let's not go crazy there thinking the team might wear the actual school colors.
