  1. Yep, not exactly enlightening, but what do you expect from the Beacon. The best comment from the PCCC forum on Burns- "You mean you can't use the university credit card to set up your DraftKings account?"
  2. I'm addition, I believe he decommitted from Illinois before his college career. He's gone from MAC Freshman of the Year at CMU to sulking puke that wouldn't lower his hood at PCCC to Lindenwood and will now be off to....?
  3. If I recall, former PCCC and CMU guard Reggie Bass is in the portal to join his 4th team in 4 years after attending 4 high schools in 4 years.
  4. Other than he's being paid much more than most of the Ducks players.
  5. Hope this isn't firewalled. It is the Beacon article on the info they learned through a public records request about Burns firing. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/college/kent-state/2025/04/14/kent-state-football-coach-kenni-burns-termination-letter-why-fired/83087102007/?tbref=hp
  6. Isn't it funny how when you start treating college players like professional players that they start acting like professional players,
  7. 8 points and 8 boards in 31 minutes in his hometown today.
  8. So did the coaches. Look who was in the game in crunch time late in the season.
  9. He must enjoy the view from a seat closer to the end of the bench.
  10. Maybe he thinks he belongs where his began in P4 schools despite it being obvious that he reached his level of competency in the MAC. In any event, whether he plays at UA or elsewhere, he's a player in some lesser Euro league at best.
  11. Yes, and they're arguing they could give him nothing if they could prove cause. That's why they didn't just write a check for the full amount.
  12. Nope, but he purportedly said no to a negotiated buyout deal. I meant he should take their offer and move on.
  13. Maybe he saw the writing on the wall with Amani's progress. Maybe it was shown to him by the staff. Maybe he wants to go back to a P4 program and playing 3 minutes a game in blowouts.
  14. Okonkwo has officially entered the portal. Just saw it.
  15. That would be a loss but not the end of the world, especially if it gives them the chance to bring in another big. Not quite sure how a Memphis basketball guy would have this inside info.
  16. Nate has declared for the NBA draft but retaining his eligibility to come back. It gives him a nice opportunity to get in front of teams in workouts and get his game assessed.
  17. His record was 4.3478% merit! He should have used that lawyer in his Portage County credit card case. He should go quietly into the night, say it just didn't work out and use his connections and pre-PCCC reputation to get an assistant job someplace. Instead, he'll draw attention by raising a stink and cost himself jobs. Schools and ADs pay attention to this type of stuff.
  18. Good thing they didn't fool around and did this quickly! April is prime time for something like this. LOL.
  19. Agreed. Too many schools seem to think they have to offer all things to all people and then Title IX adds to the number of sports that must be supported. I'm more of a fan, especially in today's climate, of focusing on the programs in which you're successful rather than throwing good money after bad. I realize that may make it more difficult for your struggling programs to improve but I'd rather be competitive in a few sports than mediocre in a bunch.
  20. MAC All-Freshman team in 22-23. Versatile 6'4" guard. Hurt early in his sophomore year and missed most of the season. Returned this year and averaged 13 ppg.
  21. I've often thought with the changes in recent years to college athletics that focusing on a sport might be the best way to go. Gonzaga, Butler, Xavier, Georgetown...and the like. Unfortunately, it keeps you out of many conferences like the MAC.
  22. I think people may be placing a little too much emphasis on the revenue sharing money. If every team in the conference gets the same amount in revenue sharing, the teams that were already ahead in revenue sharing without the revenue sharing will maintain that same advantage if the outside donations remained the same. Example- School A had $1M in NIL money and the conference kicks in another $1M. School B had $500K in NIL money and the conference kicks in $1M. School A maintains a $500K advantage. Also, the extra money in the pot across the board results in inflation in the player prices. The real advantage comes in generous outside donors and a school's commitment to a program.
  23. I was at the top until the last minute of the championship game. I now know what it feels like to be Miami.
  24. Given the lack of other bigs, neither developing a consistent outside shot and their trouble in guarding on the perimeter, I don't see them playing Okonkwo and Lyles together much, if any. Lyles can hit an occasional open three but he's not a floor stretcher.
  25. Agreed. I was just pointing it out as some believed he would be more of a "big" than a perimeter guy. I think he ends up being the guy on the other team's second big when needed, just like Gray. I'll sure miss Gray. That kid was gritty.
