If they could just get those cool lanes that widen as they get closer to the baselines! -

2019-2020 Akron Zips Basketball- Looking Forward

I think the walk on kid who excelled in the Akron Canton Pro Am league has the potential to...........keep Marquelle McIntire from getting lonely at the end of the bench this year. I don't have much confidence in the Blue Ribbon forecast. It obviously places a lot of emphasis on last year's results. -

Nice to see the Akron Canton Pro Am league is still stressing defense! -
Game 6: Oct 12th - Kent State @ Akron – 3:30 pm

I get the rationale of keeping his red-shirt, but 3 or 4 years is forever in today's college football world and if there aren't some signs of progress, Arth may not survive to see Gibson as a senior. -

Exactly. This team needs wins now. If Gibson gives you the best chance to win, put him in. -
Pole dancers and money shooting guns. Just another wholesome family night in Lawrence. As an aside, I couldn't be happier with the embarrassment to that phony Bill Self.

George Thomas Article Preview- * Big rivalry renewed this Saturday * Arth thinks the kids are coming together * Lewis thinks OOC competition has prepared Can't well for the MAC * Anything can happen in a rivalry game * Lather, rinse, repeat PS-- GT is looking more forward to the new Star Wars movie than he is this game or the Zips basketball season. -
Less that a month to the season!

Prayers from the Griswolds. That sure explains his absence.

There are some kids that will always want to go away to school that you'll never get and you'll never get the 4 and 5 star guys. After that, other than a kid who may opt to go to UC, they're no reason Akron shouldn't be in the mix for any Ohio kid. I'll give Arth a slight pass on his first recruiting class as they got a late start but they'll have no excuses next year and we'd better see his NEO connections starting to make an impact. Also, I hope to see some solid kids from the area who have gone off to big schools and not succeeded and decide to come home.

Sorry to draw out your hypocr...reality check.

PCCC could come out of Madison a little beat up. Here's hopin'. -
So, just to clarify the rules here, it's okay to predict future misery and gloom and doom for a program but not a game?

UMass is very young with 7 freshmen and 3 sophomores. Looks like they graduated most of their leading scorers, other than 6-4 junior guard Carl Pierre who averaged 11.8 points per game in 30.6 minutes per contest.

Because Cedarville and Hiram were unavaliable! Actually, while not the norm, the Zips have had two non-D1s on the schedule before, like 2015-16 when they played Malone and Hiram.

Keep up the good work.

To think Bowden was fired solely based upon his win loss record is naive. I'd bet if we looked back to last year's posts the same people griping now about Arth were calling for Bowden's head back then. Also, as Captain states, Arth's recruiting was hampered by the University's slow hiring process. BG was slow but still hired Loeffler nearly two weeks ahead of US hiring Arth.

As to the criticism issue, constructive criticism can certainly lead to improvement. That being said, I'd temper my criticism to anyone in a period of transition, not throw out the same criticism without regard to the circumstances involved. I also think that those who harken for the olden days of "Knute" Bowden are either naive to other issues that came with him or unwilling to admit the issues. Certainly, none of us would wish this misery on our University. We all want a winner and that's why we're so passionate about it. However, this was a predictable situation, one that comes with every rebuild. If the misery is ongoing, Arth clearly wasn't the guy, but 32 days into the season is a little early for the "Chicken Little" reaction.

It sucked then too.

20 wins isn't the bar it used to be. You can reasonably come out of the OOC schedule with 8 wins. You win most of your home games and split on the road in MAC play and you're around 20. -

I had a nice talk with Groce at the Ice Cream Social about the team's continued progress and development since he came on board. He wet on to explain how when he was offered the job he spoke with his staff and they thought they could come up to speed a little quicker than usual because the team had a nice nucleus. By the time they got here, they were essentially down to 5 players. This is the year I think they take a step forward as he's finally on to his kids and program. -

Very little. It's just a joking jab at Danny's tracing all that is bad in the world back to Larry Williams.
