I wonder if he has any eligibility left. We could sure use his guard play now! Maybe claim and extra COVID year? -

Akron Zips Basketball All-Time Leaders

He was a real player (I am old). -
He was at the Duquesne/Bradley game last Monday. I couldn't find anything about him being sentenced. I suspect his sentencing may be being delayed while he "works with authorities." That's only a guess based upon what I have seen in similar situations.

I was told at the basketball game last night that an Oregon QB is visiting this week. I also heard a Cal QB referenced.

The Zips wrap up their OOC schedule on the 30th with the A10’s St. Bonaventure at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The Bonnies (that’s worse than Runnin’ Bulldogs) were predicted to finish third in the A10 and currently stand at 7-3 going into Saturday’s game against Florida Atlantic. 6’3” graduate guard, Cinci transfer, Mika Adams-Woods leads the Bonnies at 15.3 ppg. 6’4” graduate guard Charles Pride leads rebounding at 6.3 rpg. 6’3” guard Darryl Banks (9.1 ppg) was named to the A10 preseason first team while 6’10” forward Chad Venning (13.6 ppg/4.3 rpg) was named to the third team. Their 3 losses have come to Cansius, Florida International and Auburn. Their best win appears to be over Oklahoma State. They appear to be an older, experienced team like the Zips. This game should be a good barometer of where our Zips stand going into league play.

Their record is deceptive. They've been in a lot of games and lost some close ones

Thank goodness. Damn frustrating.

He had a rough year at Butler but I think he's actually a better player than he was when he left Akron.

Hoping for only one!

You have to win the ugly ones and that's what the Zips did tonight. The good- the offense was very efficient. They had only 11 turnovers in 45 minutes. They really took advantage of GW smaller lineup after their big man went out. The bad- the defense was really off tonight. The rotations were slow and they were beat up the floor on many occasions. Until they went to switching in Scott for Sammy on defense late, they had problems with the 4 guard lineup. The worst- they have now shut down the north exits to the JAR at the end of the game, purportedly to keep people from the steps to the locker rooms. Add that to them closing the northeast entrance and charging for parking and I'm getting increasingly frustrated. They seem to feel compelled to turn away fans as much as possible. Oh, and I got to watch the entire first half through a a 10U basketball team because the 6 ushers they have for the entire place don't keep people off of the rails. Good thing they're not at home for a couple of weeks!

Worst defensive effort of the year.
-
Sometimes they just pop out. That's what it looked like.

Tavari in.

Not a great start for the Zips.

You'll be put on double secret probation buster!

This will be your one and only warning (per today's email)! Thank you for your ongoing support of Akron Athletics and our Zips student-athletes. Below are some friendly reminders regarding parking at athletics events. The University of Akron and Akron Athletics have been working with UAkron Park, a third-party vendor, as they have taken over all parking for the University and special events. Throughout the fall semester, UAkron Park has been issuing warnings to fans that parked in non-event spaces. Be advised, UAkron Park is issuing tickets to fans that do not park in designated lots. Please be sure to park in your designated lot and have your parking pass visible. Do not park in lots with signage indicating "no event parking." Fans that do not have parking passes should park in Lot 1 and pay the designated fees. That's one hell of a thank you.

The Gardner-Webb teams are known as the "Runnin' Bulldogs." That's quite an image. I've never seen a bulldog run. My son went to a university and lived in a dorm where the team mascot, a bulldog. In getting hyped up for the big game against their rival, they trained the bulldog to attack and tear up a box with the rival's emblem on it. In front of the student body they unleashed the bulldog to tear up the box, he frantically approached the box and....started humping it. I guess "Runnin' Bulldogs" is better than "Humpin' Bulldogs."

Won't the other schools have the same potential to climb due to portal additions? -
Doing on a weekday does little to promote interest and attendance.
