Dont know about Tressel as Prez. but I get your point. Id throw another coache's name in there. Lee Owens actually had them being pretty competitive in the MAC. Recruited some really good players like Hixon,Frye,Blackburn,believe Dwight Smith and some O-linemen. Some of these guys went to the NFL. Believe Owens was fired after a winning season. Brookhart used Owen's guys added some pieces was over .500 in'04 and won a MAC championship in '05. Seems there has always been an AD or President who wants to mess with the program at the wrong time.

I watched both CMU/UB and Miami/Toledo. CMU sure got some juice lately. They were playing crazy D. Then there was Toledo and Miami. To be fair Miami was without its starting QB. BUT, as I watched Toledo particularly the QB Gleason I am thinking Akron isn't close to playing at that level consistently. Toledo coach has been there a long time. Keeps pretty much reloading. Miami has been consistent under Martin. We know about OU also. I see a completely different level of play watching those teams as opposed to Akron. Been that way for way too long. And, now we watch CMU and UB, two teams Akron beat both of which will likey be bowl eligible. Something terribly wrong with this program.

Good points. Somebody elsewhere made the observation about being good between the 20s but terrible inside the 20s.

What is so frustrating is that we seem to end up in pretty much the same place every season and have for many seasons. You can put up 500 yds of offense all you want. But if it doesn't result in wins so what? The pattern with this program on the field is well established. Still can't compete with the upper echelon in the MAC consistently. There is an occasional win but nothing consistent. OU,Miami,Toledo even WMU seem to carry over from season to season. Building a consistently competitive FBS program at Akron was always hard. With the transfer portal and NIL I don't see FBS as being realistic anymore. I have seen plenty of 3-9 seasons or worse. Don't wanna see no more. This isnt only about coaching. It's about an identity for the program long term.

Very disappointing for a number of reasons. Could have secured at least .500 in the MAC and have a shot at .500 overall. Nope. Lost to a team that was very beatable. But yep we saw the same things we have been seeing all season. Moorehead had Finley throwing the ball almost 60 times! He is not and never has been a QB who can carry a team. Gant had 90+ yds. but could have been used more effectively in the second half when he only had about 30. Use 2 damn RBs. Throw to Gant outside and let him run through people. The O line wasn't that bad. Not great but again the run game could have been used more. Once you saw that the D wasn't on it keep them off the field as much as possible. Again put 2 backs in the backfield. At least keep Kent guessing a bit. The D picked a bad nite to revert. Gave up just enough chunk plays to allow Kent to hang around. Wasnt the TD in OT a 25 yd run? They only needed a couple of TOs to help. With all that Moorehead had a chance to step on the neck but didn't. Don't see anything better next season. Best players will transfer. If Moorehead is not gone he won't be able to recruiting. I think the University needs to decide if it wants to keep playing at the FBS level. Hard to make progress in this day and age. VERY disappointing!

Defense is again giving up chunk plays.

I said a few days ago..if Akron let KSU hang, if Moorehead put the game in Finleys hands and Akron made enough bonehead plays look out. Well lookout.

Basically ignoring your best offensive player Gant and putting the game in Finleys hands is not sound play calling.

Playing scared.

Assuming Akron loses it will be because of Mooreheads bonehead play calling and Finleys uncanny ability to badly impersonate a competent QB.

Watched a lot of the KSU/Testicle Tech game. Slow night. KSU offense seemed pretty limited. Akron 'should' win unless...they don't show up ready to play and let KSU get some momentum, unless they commit turnovers and give KSU short fields, unless they get drawn in to stupid penalties like personal fouls etc. and unless Moorehead forgets that he has one of the best RBs in the MAC in Gant and tries to put the game on Finley. The defense should be able to control things enough to limit KSUs scoring opportunities. But, again all bets are off if they do those things noted above.

Please don't let KSU spoil a 'happy ending'.

Let's curb our enthusiasm. Also watching Miami and OU. That's a nice slugfest. For the Zips 4-4 in the MAC is acceptable. But it's a long way from Detroit.

As Zips fans I think we might want to start worrying a bit more about that game on 11-11. A team that gets a positive jolt like that can be really dangerous.

Didn't catch the game. When I saw the score I checked stats and replays. Overall the Defense is still surprisingly solid. It has actually improved during the season. Probably the biggest reason the team at least has a chance to finishing. 500 in the MAC. Offensively Gant is the go to. The comments on Finley have been accurate all season. When he doesn't hold the ball too long and steps into the pocket he can be effective. Isn't just throwing to get rid of it.Makes the O line look better. I said 4-4 in the MAC is ok. Least they have a chance now.

Afraid it's too late in the season to expect things to change. Finley is what he has been and hasn't really progressed. Gant is really the only offensive player you can hang your hat on. O line still isn't good enough to take over a game. As a unit the D could be servicable but but isn't going to take over against quality opponents. The lack of program progress is on the head coach immediately. But goes to the people in the athletic department long term. Until a REALISTIC vision for the program is established it's the same movie season after season.

Was at the game. Beautiful sunny day with wife and granddaughter. She got ANOTHER picture with Zippy. Anyway. Defensively that unit played well enough for Akron to have won.Miami ain't chopped liver. The defense should sue for non-support. Offensively it was pretty offensive. I saw the same QB making the same mistakes he has forever. If he holds the ball longer than about 3 seconds you can see he loses the field and tends to just throw the ball up. Still has a hard time stepping into the pocket. Throws to much off back foot and thus is inaccurate. AND, you can't continue throwing picks into the end zone to covered receivers. Drive and game killers. But, thats Moorehead's recruit and he hasn't been able'to coach him up' much. Whats with the center and wide receivers being called for motion penalties!!!! Thats ridiculous. I thought the O-Line played well considering they were playing a good defense. Gant can run. Bottom line Moorehead's offense doesn't score enough. Curious as to why he didn't run even more. Did Moorehead lose track of downs at one point in the second quarter when the game was still close? Did he go for it on 4th down and fail? Someone help me with this one. Game management is a bit rocky still. Y'all can debate whether Moorehead should be fired or not. Thats becoming nauseating. I said 4-4 in the MAC would be OK with me. Lets play the games and see. Doesn't do any good to speculate about who they can or can't beat.

Wherever they can be competitive. Think they could compete against the S.Dakota, N.Dakota and Montana teams among others, in FCS? Personally I would question that also.

Not about 'saving money' after lierally decades of this. They have to play at a level where they can be consistently competitive. Now they are not.

All the fire the coach fans are out in full force. Again, this isn't about 1 coach or a QB...etc. This program can't compete at this level...... Let's frigging move on. I have season tix but likely only make 1 one more game. Not gonna lose sleep on weeknights for this garbage.

Was at the game. To me this one was pretty meaningless after Wyoming and UAB. Duquesne is a BAD FCS team on both sides of the ball. Zips ran the ball well. Finley still made his bad passes against a bad D but thankfully it didn't matter. The real season starts now. I'll take 4 wins in the MAC to admit there is progress. Otherwise time for the program to move on.
