Agreed. Or at least yse ut topen up the run. Yes. Amato making lemonaide out of lemons.
-
The Woodson/Receivers chemistry has finally happened. With this back in form, we should be able to open up the run.
-
Huge play.
-
Nice drive by Woodson. Nice to see receivers making catches.
-
He's not a good player and he committs too many penalties. Too bad he is already our d3 TE. Who is our #4?
-
I have been a fan since last year. They are playing their hearts out and have not figured out how to win, but it will come.
-
Yeah, I voted Zips 5 or less, I would like to change that to Zips 5 or more...actually, I think Zips 10 or more....Kyle can say hello to a reign of terror, courtesy of Chuck Amato. I presume, Kyle will be up close and personal with the D and that Kyron Brown will be introducing himself to Kyle, as well.

A couple of thoughts. 1.) Kobie Booker is one of the best offensive true freshmen we have seen in the Bowden era. I think if we had Williams back, Booker might be averaging more snaps because we would be utilizing the 2 TE blocking scheme, more. Junk is not in the same league as Williams and booker. Having MTB back next year will make this position an even bigger threat. 2.) If we have decided to burn Andre Williams' redshirt - let's get him going. He and Stewart have the potential to be impact players. I hope they are both working really hard to learn the offense and the skills needed to be effective at the D1 level.
-
With a little nuance I would agree with this.
-
It is quite conceivable that we will either match or exceed our best regular season record as a D1 program. It's not like we are headed towards failure. If we win out, during regular season and win a bowl game, we will have 9 wins.

But I also recall tgat some said we could not beat WMU with only 14 points. It's pretty clear that no one else in the MAC is where Toledo is, right now and we are still in a place where we will match up differently against different teams. Toledo is at a level where they can be the same team, every week. I think we also continue to improve, each week. It might be harder to find our improvements last week, but I felt like things started to click for Chapman and Bickley which will be crucial down the stretch for us. Last year, it was a completely different feel, where we grew worse every week as the injuries piled up. We played a relatively clean game against Toledo and did not appear to really gain any new injuries. At this point if the season, out health bodes well for us. I have been one wanting to see more of Sands and Stewart all year and we did see them against Toledo. Unfortunately, it proved my own theory, that you try to carefully get them meaningful reps but do so sparingly because they are more likely to lead to turnovers, which both did with Sands fumbling and Stewart tipping a pass that led to a pick. Neither impacted the final outcome and let's hope they were both meaningfullearning experiences for them.

How many 7-5 records have the Zips had since going Div 1A?
-
No offense, but this is a Zips board, not a family reunion.
-
Yeah, we have a number of kids who have made appearances in OOC games and then were redshirted. I think you have to apply for an exception but Tom O'Leary is a good example. Everyone remembers his less than impressive appearance as a true freshman at PSU. He was redshirted that year. He is listed a R-Jr. If he had not redshirted, he would be a senior.
-
Thanks, Captain.
-
And I bet we see players like Jacobs and Williams are red shirted. If you only play kids a very limited amount in OOC play, you can generally red shirt them, but getting them in the game early let's them know you are interested in them.

WTH? Feel free to go back to your Iowa State board with crap like this.

Akron Local Recruiting Targets
zipsoutsider replied to wadszip's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Maybe grades? We might be willing to take a kid who has to spend a year at community college. -
We still have a chance at out best regular season record, ever, since going Div 1.
-
Well, the negative Nancy's will be happy for a week, but all of the team's goals are still in front of them. We got beat by a much better program. I am continiously amazed at the lack of recognition of how bad of shape the program was in when Bowden took over. Why are we just getting better recruiting classes? Because no one wanted to play for such a miserable program. We have a decent shot at winning the MAC East and going to another bowl game. Toledo has been doing these things, almost annually for how many years? Which school will a recruit choose? Our recruiting is improving, but it takes time when you are not on top and were the joke of Div 1 for years.

I wonder if Dailey is sort of injured but could go if they need him?
-
They needed to review that catch, come on.
-
Nice punt, nice coverage, penalty against them. Nice way for the D to start.
-
Annoying for us, but they pretty much have to interview this guy with the impact he has made as a rookie and as a Toledo alumni.
-
I am encouraged that we have started to move the ball, and especially that we have some catches. Woody, time and time again is able to stay in the pocket to deliver some nice throws and he takes some punishing hits as a result. That pass to Smith was a really nice throw.
