  1. RE: ESPN3/cord cutting - yes, you need some type of subscription, but in some cases, it is just an Internet subscription. Also, you used to be able to get it through Xbox Gold - is that still true? In any case, there is a big move towards streaming versus TV and it is especially true with millennials and the younger Gen Xers. I think the Zips are ripe to pull off a beatdown. Great perspective.
  2. I think if Tommy leads the Zips to a MAC title, he is worthy of strong consideration. He has potentially 2 opportunities to do so. WE could potentially have a stronger offense next year than we do this year. I think Tommy's off-season this prep work this winter will ultimately determine where he falls. I feel like there was tremendous improvement between last season and this season. If he continues to elevate his game IQ, and leads the Zips to win the MAC title, I think it's tough to argue against him. That being said, I am not sure his throwing motion will make him of any interest to NFL scouts.
  3. I would agree with this. I do think the potential is there, but things must align correctly for him and he has to live up to the potential.
  4. I met week night games, not the whole ESPN deal.
  5. Honestly, if we are only getting ESPN3coverage out of this, it ain't worth it.
  6. I also heard, "Offensive Coordinator, A.J. Dillweed." at around 14:55 or with a dead ball at 9:07 in the first quarter.
  7. Bulls face Akron Thursday night on just four days restUB football prepares for Akron I am sure we will be testing this situation out, early. Honestly, you have to almost feel bad for a bad team that seems to be taking hits that could potentially make them even worse. Zips look to continue conference success in Buffalo I have really enjoyed The Buchtelite coverage this season. I wouldn't mind seeing one of these kids in-seating our current local coverage upon graduation.
  8. It's like pouring Clorox into an open wound.
  9. That's worth digging through the replay to find. That had to be about the worst coverage I have seen in a while.
  10. I just took a closer look at the weather model data for Thursday evening in Buffalo. There is a cold front sweeping in that evening and I would not, at all, be surprised to see snow mix in by the end of the evening. Dress warmly, boys.
  11. 2016 Week 9 Preview: Akron Zips vs. Buffalo Bulls Faster starts, more touches for Jordan Johnson on UB agenda
  12. The offense will take what the defense gives us. If they give us 1:1 coverage with Jerome Lane all night, I expect us to pass all night. If they throw extra coverage on our receivers, I expect us to run. I am not sure it really matters, as bad as the Buffalo defense is, though.
  13. I despise when people make judgements about the players motivation. If you are not on the team, anything you have is second-hand and you are getting it from one person's perspective and that person, has a bias, whether they are aware, or not. It does no one any good to cast aspersions of character and motivation. If you have something negative to say about a player's character, IMHO, you better be willing to name the source (and by name, I mean name - not just someone close to the team, or someone on the team.). Otherwise, it is better kept it to yourself. These kids have enough to deal with in their lives without grown adults destroying their character on a public forum.
  14. I 100% agree with everything in this post. It's pretty amazing that Quigley was able to jump in like that. I hope someone is helping Kato see the value of his redshirt. I am not sure a lot of kids understand it when they come in, but yes, it will allow him to grow into the position and be ready when it's his time. The run game was stellar, outside of the tackles and that certainly opened up the middle, too. Our offense is so much fun to watch. Bowl eligible in October? Incredible. Most regular season wins in our D1 history? Bring it! Considering that we had a much tougher schedule than last year, it is tough to argue the progress of the progrum.
  15. The only big surprise on those stats, for me, was that his "long" was only 46 yards. We've had some big plays.
  16. Nice shots! Yeah, you are right. I did catch that we are still lining Brian Bell up at DE, sometimes. I think he is doing better at that position than he is at LB.
  17. Thanks. Yeah, there was no succinct way to explain what he said about OL coaching. It is interesting to not that the head coach coaches his coaches. I am sure he doesn't need to do it with Amato, but I wonder how well young head coaches do at coaching and developing their coaches? Alvin Davis: I am going to take you up on your suggestion...maybe I will go grab last week's footage and do that. I did that with DeAndre Scott a few times and realized that we never hear his name this year because his coverage is impeccable and nobody wants to throw to the guy he is covering.
  18. That's a really valid point.
  19. Bowden presser: Ball is close to returning. Either this week or next week. Buffalo is also playing on a short week. Defensive improvement during the second half was mostly just calming the kids down and showing them how to adjust. Alvin Davis was supposed to be a grey shirt but someone no -showed and he was scholarshipped....he's only 150 lbs.

  21. I don't know, I thought Edwards and Morgan ran it pretty well last week. If Ball is better, but the weather sloppy, hold him back for another week.
  22. Yes, through 2014, UB was a solid program. RE: the weather, I think we could have a lot of yards on the ground, as well. We have had remarkably good weather this year, let's hope it continues.
  23. Akron vs. Buffalo Game Preview If the Zips show up to play, several players could have career days this week.
