Even though their stud is likely out, the run game remains a threat with their physical OL. Marshall didn't pose much of a threat with the run game and I think App State is a completely different match up for us. 2 weeks ago I wouldn't have been as hopeful that we could match up but I think we have seen enough adjustments in the D to see that we can keep them somewhat contained. I see no reason to believe that offensively we can't compete with any D we play through the end of 2016. In my mind it is just whether the D can play well enough to give the offense a chance to out score them.

I took a quick peek at the App State fan board. I felt sorry for them. It was like reading our board sometimes.

Agreed. Any of our backs are adequate for those 10+ carries per game. Ball is just a bonus due to his size and abilities. Some of the holes Manny had were remarkable and he capitalized on his opportunity. You have to feel happy for the 3rd strong back who was given an opportunity and had a big game. I heard someone yell to put Cody Grice in on 4th and short during the VMI game. No doubt, we will miss him, but Ball does a better job than most guys at the back position in those circumstances.

It's pretty tough to get straightforward answers on injuries from TB or any college coach these days. I hope he is OK. It was a vicious hit cheap shot. You really hate to see a kid get hurt on a cheap shot like that. A 15 yard penalty doesn't seem severe enough, especially when you compare it to Hamilton's taunting penalty.

A couple of comments have been made about coaching and I think TB/Milwee deserve credit for exploiting the freshman Cornerback, Chris Jackson. I would imagine that App State will be prepared for this type of situation and come with a game plan to so try to stop it. That being said, with Lane's athleticism, a game plan might not be enough and we know that focusing on Lane leaves you very vulnerable with Wolf and Natson. I agree big win, Zip coverage by local media. The paper in Huntingdon had a nice long article that I read online. Our defense gave up a lot, but I am not sure, still what that says about D. We got better as the day went along on December and Marshall was supposed to be a high powered offense. We don't have to complete shut down high powered offenses to win, just contain them, which we did. I was very happy when we shut them down and they had to settle for 3 in the red zone in Q4. I am not sure if they switched how Zach Guiser played, but he had a huge game for us. I hope we get a decent crowd next week. This was a huge win and I hope local news picks it up this week.

Both Ball and Edwards dressed. Either it was TB gaming Doc Holiday or they were hurt but wont be out long.

100% agree, and Marcus lining up in the neutral zone - gets called at least 1x, every game, and it's not new this year.

And don't put too much stock into "team a blew out team b a, therefore we should blowout team b." Every team matches up differently, has different injury issues, and comes with a different mental state each game.

Agree with these points, plus the fact that I thought the D came in playing a lot more aggressively. I was starting to have serious concerns about our lack of defensive forced turnovers.

I found it interesting that Marshall fans considered this a "trap" game for them. They might have been favored but I thought it was a little over the top to consider it a trap game. I always felt App State would prove to be a tougher game for us. It turns out that we were more who people thought Marshall was and Marshall was more of who people thought we were. I think there is not reason to believe we can't play a competitive game at home next week and I think the odds makers will favor App State, but we can win the game.

It's almost like reading Zips Nation on a game day that we lose. Horrible coaches, no talent, the sky is falling, etc.. The fan base certainly underestimated us, I doubt the coaches did. The hit on the QB in Q2 was obviously a game-changer for us, but scored, all day, at will. I kept thinking about these things, too. The offensive line is playing very well, given its experience level and Tommy is throwing the ball, very well. We consistently just sprint past coverage. App State will be another story. They will come to win. If we pull off a win next week, it would send a pretty loud message about the 2016 Zips. Hat's off to the person or persons who put Tommy on the Unitas award watch list.

I was hoping we could come out of OOC play at least 2-2 and we will do that, if not better. Despite claims that the sky was falling, the Zips put together a nice win, overcoming some adversity and demonstrating that their high-powered offense is for real. There were some break-throughs with the defense, today, but we still have a long way to go there. Special teams play continues to give me heartburn, but they played big after their early mistakes. Congrats to Manny Morgan who had a career day.

They will cut to the next game ASAP because this game went so long, sadly.

People can no longer say our offense against VMI was a fluke.

It almost feels like it is harder for us to do a long drive than 3 or 4 play drive. Austin Wolf really used his body well on that last catch.

Another undisciplined penalty, this time Hamilton. Alvin Davis is delivering some solid hits today.

Bowden is hot over that unsportsmanlike call.

I thought earlier how he gets so little attention and makes stupendous plays, consistently.
