  1. Read my post again. It had nothing to do with whether LeBron shows up with Keith for the dinner or not. You missed the point.
  2. Were you at Trivia Night last night? Someone won a prize to have dinner with Keith. And French made some type of remark along the lines of "...maybe he'll bring LeBron along with him for an extra bonus". Akron basketball has a connection with a big-time celebrity. Why would any Zips fan possibly ever get tired of that? I don't even care that he has other teams that he likes. He talks about Akron among his millions of nationwide fans. Once again, the U of A can't buy that kind of publicity.
  3. That's what I was thinking.
  4. Hello !! Are you understanding the level of publicity that the LeBron connection produces now? More than even the accomplishments of the team itself, in your own words? Maybe it's not right, I agree. But, it is what it is. That's the benefits you get when you are connected to someone with celebrity status.
  5. Some Wiki page told me it was 10,000 seating. Go figure. Could it be that they expanded the seating for the title games? Anyway, we might not even be at 1/4 of that. So, I'm guessing that's out of the realm of possibility. It would be great, though.
  6. THESE are the kinds of things that could leave enough of an impression on an Akron kid to become a Zips fan as they grow older, instead of becoming a robot-like bandwagoner and rooting for that team down south. Plus, it's just a great thing to do. Period.
  7. No. According the Website, the seating capacity is 10,000 for the locaiton of the 2009 title. That would be great if we could find a way to host that here. It would be great for Akron. But, I think the lake-effect snow patterns of December, along with the small venue, would make that impossible. But we do have Info, if we can put a dome on it
  8. How much do you think it would cost to equal the exposure through paid advertising that the U of A gets from just one Tweet to millions of followers from a celebrity like LeBron ?
  9. So, I'll ask again. You're saying that Akron basketball having an association with one of the biggest athlete/celebrities in the world is not a benefit? If so, where is YOUR evidence? Maybe we should just tell him to stay away, since it can't possibly be helping our visibility that, among other things, he has millions of Twitter followers who see him talking about the U of A?
  10. And the strategy may have started by kicking off in both halves of the game. Ahhh, the fond memories.
  11. That shows that they want to be fair. But, with NE Ohio often getting hammered with Lake Effect snow that time of the year, I doubt if they would ever take a chance on Akron. And would they even consider a stadium that only seats a couple thousand people? Maybe do it in Infocision?
  12. I'd say that's about 100 times less asinine as stating that it has no impact. "Priceless" might not be the right word, but would you like to venture a guess at what it would cost to pay one of the greatest celebrity/athletes in the world to talk about the U of A ?
  13. Show us that it's NOT benefitting us. Tell me, what are the chances that Keith and UA are even relevant to even be mentioned in a publication like SI at this time of the year, if it is not for the connection to Bron? Publicity is publicity. You could spend millions buying advertising about the U of A, and still not get a single person to notice as much as a simple tweet from maybe the biggest athlete/celebrity on the planet. He is, by far, our biggest asset to gaining any national publicity. AND it's free. That's the point.
  14. I had the same thought.
  15. If you've started saying POP, you're truly making the transition to being a Yankee !!!
  16. Did you just recently move here from the South? I agree with you on most of this, and Dalton did have good numbers during that Spring Game, but had some blatant errors too. What it means down the road, who knows.
  17. I'm afraid that could be the case as well.
  18. Hmm. But, if he was D-1A talent, wouldn't you think that a new, incoming OC and QB coach at a school like Steven F. Austin would be doing eveything possible to get him to stay for his senior campaign? After he had been in the program for 3 years already? And with the HC being the same? Again, it's a very puzzling situation. Alot of questions.
  19. That's the best scenario you can hope for. A guy with his ball skills, who keeps growing when in college. If it's true, that's great news.
  20. Thank you. That's exactly what I'm wondering. He played at a lower level, AND sat the bench for 3 years, but was possibly D-1A talent? I'm puzzled.
  21. It's still a very legitimate question to ask how a guy who was not a starter at a lower level could suddenly be considered good enough to be a starter at the highest level. Who was originally recruting him? Why didn't he just go to another FCS school to try to become a starter? Was anyone else pursuing him? Did we discover this "hidden gem", and everyone else was somehow asleep at the wheel? I don't know much, so I still obviously have a lot of questions.
  22. Are you the reincarnation of that Akron Football character? When a coach of Bowden's caliber talks about an open competition for starting jobs in the fall, but virtually eliminates a former starter from that possibility after only a few practices in April, when some of the other candidates have never even played a game at all, that tells me everything I need to know.
  23. Clayton got the start with the 1st Team Offense. But, Dalton ended up throwing more total passes than anyone else in the game, and seemed to get more total playing time. Not sure what we can make out of that. There has been mention that Dalton is good at "pushing the other guys". Does this mean that he's there to help them get accustomed to the offense, but is not in our plans because of his final-season status? Maybe.
