Checking to see if this made the cut in the most recent edition of Websters Dictionary. EDIT: Maybe I shouldn't be surprised that the Urban Dictionary is already using it. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=douchebaggery Sorry K92, someone beat you too it.

We'll never know how much this had to do with our anticipated situation at QB, our need to fill the void at WR with the Lane/Natson exit, or both. I just hope he's in a spot where he can really help us. The hype vs. the production just wasn't there. But, I'm still grateful that he did enough to get us that win out in Portage County last year.

They proved something to me too....in the 2nd half of one game. And it's not the first time. I've seen stretches of defensive effort previously this season. This team is still very different in that respect, compared to teams in the past who put the heat on opponents for 40 minutes and then did it again a few days later. I want to see just some of that heart from this team. Hopefully Antino has become that guy who can lead it.
-
Maybe so. I think that's what you are seeing so far. But, if that's true, do you expect our coach to be satisfied with that? I know the answer.
-
That's why it's in the "General UA and Campus Discussion". See above. The discussion and everyone who's posted above followed the posting by someone of the letter from the president addressing the refugee issue.

This is more pertinent to this thread and this forum, since it involves a sports figure and a college professor. Have any of you read the absurd statements made by the college professor about Tom Brady's action (Wearing a Trump hat) makeing him more of a danger to America than everything that Colin Kaepernick has done? Dems should have just gotten a major wake up call. They are failing to realize that there's a reason why the Presidency, the House, the Senate, and the overwhelming majority of Governorships in this country have slipped out of their hands. Americans are tired of being lectured to and being told how they should think, with the mainstream media, politicians and Hollywood being other sources. This entire Refugee situation has proven to be another great example. If everyone would have waited a little while for the truth to surface before they started marching in the streets, they would have learned that the President has the authority, protected by an Act of Congress, to ban entry from any country if they deem it to be in the best interest of the country. His predecessor used it, and there were no protests. All 6 previous Presidents used it, as we've learned, and there were no protests. And good luck filing suit because the media tells you that it's a "muslin ban" when only a very small percentage of the people in these countries are Muslim.....countries identified by Obama as being involved in harboring and cultivating terrorism. And it's only very temporary, until they get a better grip on the situation and can form a new policy. Why would anyone have a problem with that? So, again. Why did everyone run to the streets immediately in protest? Before they could have possibly known all the details? Before a single person was ever placed under the more stringent vetting process? And why haven't they done so in the past if this is all about "inclusion" and "avoiding discrimination"? I saw this morning that right after the new Supreme Court justice was nominated last night, protests had begun. Do you think these people knew that this guy was previously approved by the very Democratic Senators that now are saying they will oppose him? And how can they possibly be demanding that Trump's nominee be a Moderate judge when his predecessor got approval from Congress to seat a hispanic woman and a gay woman during his term? So again, there's no disputing that this is nothing more than continued protest of the election. They were protesting before he was even inaugurated and signed one document. If you decide that you don't like the job he does, you'll have your chance to vote again in 4 years. But in a country where the people have overwhelmingly said that we were headed in the wrong direction, it's time to move forward and allow the person who was elected to govern.

I think they at least mirror many of Keith's teams in the past that win MAC games because they are part of a program that's won so much, and have experience in knowing how to get it done. But I will point out that this is different. We appear to be more inclined to outscore people to get those victories. I think it's also the reason why we're not pounding people in this league....in a weak year where it looks like we should be doing that more. I'm convinced that this team only has one barrier to greatness right now. It's defensive effort. If this team took on the "scrappy" demeanor that they showed at times during the 2nd half last night more frequently, this could be the best team we've seen in Keith's 13 seasons.
-
Tavian: Guys, I wouldn't read too much into that situation. Keith has a long tendency to go with the veterans that he trusts. And we were in trouble in this game fairly early. I don't think he's being put in any "dog house" for mistakes. Antino: Yes, he played a great game last night. But I have been pointing out for several games that he's also become the emotional leader of this team. And I've seen that particularly on the defensive end of the floor. That's exactly what this team needs. And his own defensive plays last night were just as pivotal to the outcome of that game as his offense.
-
Almost impossible to lose a game when you do that. Unbelievable.
-
ABSOLUTELY. That surprised me.
-
WOW Ok, I take back what I said about our defense, and about Big Dog not looking like the best center in the league.
-
akzipper....are you there?
-
Keith acknowledges that it's his worst, or one of his worst. As I said earlier, you can't "teach" defensive effort. And what I have been seeing is just lack of focus and effort.
-
In one half at least, I feel like I am seeing the best Center in the MAC, by a long shot. And he's not wearing an Akron uniform. Please change my mind Zips.
-
Lack of defense finally failing this team. It's all effort, guys. No excuse for not picking up guys running down the floor sooner.
-
What if we are ranked, but don't make it to the tournament? We'll take whatever we can get, and all we can get.
-
Well, there's a lot of things that we'd like to see happen with this program that are of greater magnitude. Getting into the rankings would be a phenomenal event, so I'm a little surprised to see that someone wouldn't be begging for such a thing to happen to us. I get the idea that advancing to the 2nd round of the tournament is something that's never happened before. But frankly, you have to be more concerned at this point that we have not even been able to get INTO the tournament for 4 years now. Right? I'm taking big, national publicity anytime I can get it, Appearing in the Rankings that are read and seen by nearly every college basketball fan in the nation on a weekly basis would accomplish some of that. So would scoring major upsets. Give me anything big. Anytime. I'll take it.
-
No question. I'm just saying that it doesn't help us.
-
No, I'm not being naive. I actually agree with you completely. I expect that some will be upset if they don't believe in the policies themselves. But I think LZip said it best. Why weren't these same people rioting in the streets when the ban was placed on Iraq in 2011? The president from a different political party was making the decision this time? You betcha !! That's one reason why you'd be convinced that it's the person, and not the policy. Come on, ME87. They were protesting throughout DC and elsewhere, and breaking out store windows, as he was being sworn in as President. He hadn't signed a single document yet, or enacted a single policy. FYI...The President DOES have powers that do not require Congressional approval. And as far as the courts are concerned, if a Presidential action is ultimately proven to be beyond his power by the Supreme Court? Then they need to abide by that and find another course to enact their policy. I'm fine with that. Then the country is working the way that it should.
-
Man, it's hard to tell what it's going to take. Since the first team out of the Top 25 has 69 votes, we have a long way to go to surpass that number. We obviously need losses from other people, and plenty of them. Especially from the teams that are closest to us right now. So, I'll be rooting for losses from any teams around 20 to 29 this week. Those two recent losses by Creighton proved to be devastating. They went from a solid Top 10 to barely in the poll. That doesn't help our resume. I'm just happy to see us moving. Nice to see two more guys jump on our bandwagon. Hopefully it spreads like the plague.
-
Since they seem to be protesting every new policy that is enacted, do you really think it's because they hate everyone of those policies? Or, because it's an excuse to continue to show their displeasure for the person making them? Some elements of our society respect the results of elections, even if they disagree with the policies of the new official, because they understand that the person elected was given the authority, by the people, to make such policies. That's respecting American democracy.
-
Educated voters look for the facts themselves. Blue collar folks finally got tired of automatically voting for Democrats who hadn't helped them for decades, and stopped believing what mainstream media was selectively dictating to them. How else can you explain why our state, especially, turned a loss into a resounding 10% victory in just a 4 year span? Don't you think that's a very bitter, loser mentality to imply that people who support one candidate/issue did so because they didn't know any better, and that the other side was actually the more credible voters that followed the facts?
-
That's why I brought it up earlier. I think he has that ability against SOME of the people that would likely be defending him. I'd like to see it more.
-
I only posted it that small because my Download space has run out. But I wanted it visible that it was a Quinnipiac poll so there was no misunderstanding about whether it was a "fake news" story. A Harvard study (not your typical conservative stronghold either) shows an even higher number (50%). And that was for the question of whether there should be a ban, not just the temporary ban that was just invoked.

Would it be a big shocker if someone from the Academic world opposes a policy of a Republican president, along with all of the nut jobs in Hollywood, and everyone else who will march in the streets every day because they didn't get their way in the elections. See below as proof that even a liberal-leaning poll shows that the public supports it, which is why we voted in someone who actually cares about protecting America.
