You are probably correct, as it seems tryout players do not make the roster unless they get signed. For example, one of the 3 DE's on the Bucs tryout list got signed to the team after the minicamp ( Bucs Sign Tryout DE Evan Panfil ) and he is now on their active roster.

Sevon Pittman is not on the Bucs roster

QB's are not allowed to get hit/tackled in scrimmages -- this is probably why Darian has his fist planted in the small of Nick's back to avoid any serious contact
