  1. And I would have sworn it was a 3 ball. Must have been a deep 2.
  2. Great thread!! My memory sucks so I cannot remember the opponent but the opposing team had the ball with 3 seconds left and the game is tied. They throw the ball down the court and nobody touches it, Akron Ball. No Akron player gets open and we throw the ball into Big Dog who turns and drains a three pointer at the buzzer. ( I am certain not the play KD drew up.) First time all season he shot a 3. Akron has had some dominant centers including Zeke, Big Dog and Freeman. Also, last years game against Kent and it was Kent's third last possession. Kent player gets a rebound and goes to score to take the lead and Freeman blocks it from behind. It was an amazing block!!! Kent then scores on the next possession and then the Kent player fouls Tribble because he thought they were behind. (You can't make this stuff up) Tribble makes both free throws for the win.
  3. Not only was it an all out blitz, everyone played press coverage and did not let Toledo receivers off the line of scrimmage. What a dumb call by the Toledo coach to call a pass play on 3rd and one when their quarterback has been gaining 2 yards on contact on almost every run. We will take it.
  4. Never thought that would happen. First time in 8 years we have won 2 games in a row. Great call on an all out blitz!!
  5. Can we please take a gift one time. Lets win this in overtime.
  6. This thread is 5 years old, 27 pages, KD has been retired from coaching for 6 months, and the last 10 posts do not even mention KD. This topic will just never die. (LOL)
  7. The whole game they were using a wide shot of the field. On the replay of Indiana's first goal, it was a close angle and the replays showed the Indiana player in an offside position when the ball was in the air. I just wonder if the ref had a wide shot to show whether or not he was in an offside position when the ball was played.
  8. He is a wide body and looks really strong and he had some great box outs when he was on the floor. I always wonder when somebody transfers from a big program whether he thought minutes would be given and not earned.
  9. A win last night in basketball and the streak continues. Today is the big day. Zips need a win in Indiana in soccer and a win against Alabama State who also won their first 2 games. Will watch soccer and then head over to basketball. Hoping the Zips win in regulation so that I can hopefully see the tipoff in basketball. Great day to be a Zips fan. Go Zips!!!
  10. This game was great with lots of offense and some great blocks and great passing. We really had problems on defense keeping guys in front of us and we were outmuscled in the block several times. We also had the problem of getting around screens. Kevin Johnson had some outstanding moves around the basket. Tavari finally found the 3 ball and had some great passes with 9 great assists. Okonkwo was good on the boards and made a couple of shots around the basket. I thought Grey had his best game making some tough shot muscling his way to the basket. Reminds me of Jamie Bosley, a smaller guy who just seem to be able to play big and get to the hoop. Lyles was good offensively but I wish we had a big guy who could clog up the middle. Hardman was 4 of 10 from three and had some wide open looks. Zips continually pass the ball well and seem to create openings on their offensive set. Harris, Wilson and Scott were really not big factors. I hope we can repeat this offense Sunday with better defense.
  11. Am I dreaming, please pinch me as it is a great week to be Zip fan. Tuesday we beat Kent in football, Thursday we won our first NCAA soccer game in 6 years by beating Princeton, and Friday we beat powerhouse Lamar in basketball. (And our corporate partner, the Browns also beat the Steelers on Thursday) Lets keep this party rolling with victories in basketball on Sat. and Sunday, a win in Indiana in soccer on Sunday, and a beat down of Toledo in football in Tuesday. Do you believe in Miracles? Lets run the table.
  12. Tavari and Young are both good but Tavari will probably continue to start and get more playing time because he has more time in the Groce system. Heard Lyles on the post game and very smart and articulate guy. He indicated he worked in the gym shooting threes and it shows. Never thought he would be an outside threat but having Freeman as a mentor was great for him. Okonkwo has almost no offensive skills and Lyles got the start tonight. I thought we did a much better job rebounding the ball. In a way this game was boring. We could not expand the lead past 15 and they could rarely get it below 10. There really was never a shift in momentum. It seemed like we were trading baskets the whole night. Good to see the Zips scoring in the paint but surprised how poorly we shot the 3 ball. Almost felt like staying to watch the 2nd game to see how empty the Jar would be.
  13. On Wed against Houston Freeman played 14 minutes and scored a career high 6 points and had a really nice assist that made the highlight clip. Indiana has a lot of injuries and he is getting more playing time.
  14. Considering we have not won back to back games in 8 years and I have seen some really bad Akron football teams in that time period I am not sure we have any room to talk about bad Kent teams.
