I would rather them schedule a team that they did not have to pay to come into the jar. How does a 7 foot center learn anything when his defender is 6-5?

Ali needs confidence. I cannot tell you how many times I have watched him make a move and then stop in the lane and look to pass. At the Ohio State game on his 4 point play he knew exactly what he wanted to do and did it. He needs to show the same confidence when driving to the hoop. A coach once told me that if you take the ball to the hoop strong you either get blocked, get a layup or get fouled. Any time you have a basketball play where 2 out of 3 results are good then that is a good play.

I was surprised to see Tavia Dunn Martin transfer. He went with KD to Duquene. Does anyone know why he transferred? Was he the last player standing that KD took with him from Akron.

When you look at that picture you see a sea of empty seats. I know this was a terrible opponent but I am guessing that season tickets are way down this year because of covid and that people lost interest because we did not have any fans last year. I will be curious if we will see more butts in the stands if this team starts winning more games. I think it sucks for the players to play in an half empty Jar.

I liked the student section being in the lower level. They were loud during the game. They also had students behind the basket. I think the tables behind the basket without any seating does not make much sense. Who wants to stand to watch the game? Walton and Castanada are going to be good this year. Bandango is a work in progress. He just seems a little awkward around the basket. He also had problems picking up a a pass on a give and go. However, he is a shot blocker on Defense. They took a lot of 3 balls this game and shot a decent percentage. A lot of sloppy play from both teams but that is to be expected. Difficult to assess the team when the competition is not high quality.

As a season ticket holder I would like to say I am excited about this game but then I read the press guide about Point Park and still cannot figure out if they are division 1, 2, 3 or NAIA. If we are going to play a game against a team from Pittsburgh, how about the Dukes instead of Point Park so we can settle whether Groce or KD has a better team. Who schedules these teams and do they have any idea how to build excitement for Akron Basketball. To follow up a game against Ohio State with a team that lost to Lawrence Tech just does not make much sense to me. I will be curious to see if there are 1000 people at the Jar.

There was a play before the touchdown where our safety did the same thing. He let the receiver run past him but the pass was overthrown and incomplete. The safeties are looking at the quarterback and are not watching the receivers as they run down the field past them.

Losing a buzzer beater to Ohio State when 2 defenders leave a guy wide open under the basket. Watching our safeties in football let a receiver run past them to score a winning touchdown in the last minute. Obviously, this is not Zip heaven but must be the other place.

You have to give the Zips credit coming back and coming back. Gibson is playing a great game. That is 2 great games in a row. The offense has life. Can the defense hold again?

I really thought we would finally beat a ranked team. Why did Freeman leave his man? Great game by the Zips and clutch shot by Ali. He seems to be the clutch player. Groce went to him at the end of the game.

Bad decision by Freeman. After the rebound should have sent the ball out for another possession.

If Trimble can get hot at the end of the game if could be great. Ohio State is shooting 22% in the second half. Really good Zips D. Can we close this out?

We are tied with Ohio State in basketball and beating Western Michigan in football. I guess this is Zips heaven!!!

I like the Zips press and their pressure defense. If we had made some open 3 balls we would be tied on winning. Good to see Ali make a postive move and score. Clark looks good getting to the basket. Trimble is a streak shooter. If he could get hot it would certainly help the zips. Not a bad first half.

I grew up in the Phila area and attended school at Akron and settled out here and I was also surprised at how many people from Akron are Ohio State fans. In Phila nobody rooted for Penn State unless they were alumni. We were all Eagle fans and rooted for whatever college we attended. When I attended Akron I always went to the football games and was amazed at the traffic jams to get into the stadium. It usually took a half hour to park and 15 minute walk to get into the stadium. The Acme Zip game was always a near sellout. The thought was a new downtown stadium would attact more fans. Unfortunately, you need to have a consistent winning football team to get butts in the seats and a University that know how to market the team. Akron has neither. I give credit to the hardy souls on this board that continute to attend the games in person. However, most Akron fans have lost interest in this team. Akron cannot keep putting out a team that is non competitive and expect people to show up at the stadium. Further, who wants to watch football on Tuesday nights? Also, now that all the Zips games are on TV it is easier to watch the game on TV and then turn it off when the Zips are out of it by the third quarter. I believe that once Akron is competitive that attendance will improve but I just don't see it ever being consistently great.

I still remember that dunk. Has to be one of the best dunks by a Zip.

Ohio State is ranked 17th in the nation. I have been following Akron basketball for a long time and correct me if I am wrong but I do not believe we have ever beaten a ranked team. I know they came close to beating VCU and Nevada at home but I do not know if those teams were ranked when we played them. You would think all the stars would align and Akron would have beat a ranked team at some point in time. Maybe Tuesday?

I still do not understand Akron defense. You know they are going to run the ball. Why not put the 9 guys in the box. Makes no sense to have 2 safeties 15 yeards down the field when a first down ends the game. They get 2 first downs and end the game.

Calling that a hit is a gross exageration. I agree with the annoucer if the kicker is that stupid it should be 30 yards.

I think you and I are the only ones still watching this game.
