  1. You are nuts...that was a CHOKE through and through. We crapped down our leg and beat ourselves with terrible play. How many offensive rebounds did Can't get and score points off of?Uninspired basketball like that will insure that even next year they will struggle to get ANYONE at the game.I'm embarrassed and every Zip should be as well. We'll agree to disagree then.....but you can't ignore our performance against more athletic teams this year.....actually it's been ugly. How many dunks did we have tonight? How about Can't? You mention rebounds but don't you think athletic ability plays a little part in that? You can point out our shooting percentage, but our shots were being contested. Any three pointer we took was rushed. You can cite turnovers, but again Can't has longer, quicker guards and they were clogging the passing lanes. There were a lot of tipped passes tonight. We were afraid to move the ball around and settled for terrible shots. Then you figure Can't has three to four guys on the floor at any given time who could beat you. Tonight it was Simpson who killed us. The reason we beat these guys last year is that they still didn't have their heads screwed on right. To Geno's credit, he's got his guys playing together and now they are wreaking havoc on the conference with their raw talent and athleticism. It seems that we don't have an answer for this team, and that worried me even before the game. Just saying....I think you're right about the reason that we beat these guys last year. They did not have their heads on straight. That's the problem with The Zips this year. It's mental. If you think that Can't has some sort of insane recruiting advantage to more "athletic" players you're absolutely insane. We are in the same conference, in the same region competing for the same recruits. And we basically won the superbowl with getting Zeke this year, just wait until things start slowing down for him, no one will have an answer for it because he is more of an "athlete" than anyone in this conference. The difference tonight came down to a bunch of jack@ss seniors on Can't State's team who have some retarded sense of entitlement compared to a Zips team that was too young and too nervous to execute their gameplan... and if you're going to tell me that Anthony Simpson is that much more of an "athlete" than Chris McKnight you're just about off your rocker.Point is, Can't played their game and stayed glued to their gameplan, we didn't. Take it for what it's worth. Can't does NOT have a recruiting advantage over us. That's not what I'm saying. All I can see is that they employ a much different strategy in recruiting than we do. Why not get a mixture of high school and JUCO recruits? I think it's a valid question to be asked. KD is dead against JUCO's and I don't understand why. His team is getting rolled by a bunch of JUCO's. Why does Can't keep winning with all the coaching turnover they had and guys that go in and out of the program? Like you said, they're not much different than we are right? I just think KD is one of the best, if not the best coach in this conference and with better personnel we can get to the level he envisions for this program. He knows how to get the most out of his players, but at the end of the day it's the players on the court that decide the game.

  3. Well that's $15.00 I'll never get back.....anyway.....Choke? I completely disagree. We were beat by a taller, quicker team tonight. They were all over us and forced us into rushing our three's. The type of player we are recruiting is not going to cut it. Next years class looks more like the same to me. I would not even be disappointed if this team does not see the finals because no adjustment in the world is going to address our personnel issues. And if anybody thinks Can't will take the night off against their arch-rival they are gravely mistaken. I'm sick of being the little engine that could every year, but this is getting embarrassing the way we play Can't. We're laying enough eggs this year to make the easter bunny jealous. Can we please stop griping about attendance now?
  4. Finally, a big game........for the first time this year I am excited to go to a hoops game. This aint Malone, St. Francis, Our Lady of the Elms anymore. I envy the schools where it is like this all the time and not just when we open up a stadium or play a rival 10 miles away.
  5. Athletic teams have hurt Akron for too long now. This year alone we've seen Rhode Island, VCU, Can't State, and (needless to say) NC State & Texas A&M out-athlete us. After 5 years of KD recruiting, we really need to be getting more explosive athletes to don the Zips' blue & gold. I'm tired of seeing forwards lay the ball up. Get guys in here who abuse the rim when they play. Or how about a 2G who can actually dunk the ball on a fast break? That's what I've been saying for the last four years. That's what scares me in the tournament. If Can't brings their A game I don't think our A game will be enough to beat theirs. We are a top flight MAC program. Why don''t we get the athletes Can't and OU get?
  6. Well things should be interesting as the Miami Heat are looking to block the Cavs attempt to land another star. Miami's courting wade as we are with Lebron. They would probably have to get rid of Beasley to make something happen. Here is a link to the Cavs forum:http://www.cleveland.com/forums/cavs/
  7. Lebron, Shaq, Amare, Mo, and Parker. If you are an opposing team how do you account for Lebron and Amare on the wings and Shaq in the center? I'm all in and I think Ferry and Gilbert are too.
  8. I'll say 1.76....that C+ he got in "Modern Methods for Children's TV" was huge.
  9. I'll make an attempt to save this thread. It's frustrating to see us lose to scrub teams and yes there are those same issues that seem to plague this team year after year. A lot of that I think you can attribute to talent and athleticism. KD is a guy who gets the most out of his players, but remember it's the player that ultimately plays the game. We don't have the talent to really separate ourselves from the rest of the pack. We don't have consistent playmakers on offense. Can't gets them but they can only do so by taking in the baggage that comes with that player. Unfortunately, we are a product of the MAC, and we have to accept that. We are a one bid league. We have trouble scheduling decent opponents at home. On top of that, our basketball facilities are crummy, and our fan base is apathetic. For what KD has to work with here, he's doing a damn good job.
  10. The top programs in the nation don't lose to Austin Peay or Eastern flippin Michigan. Top programs in the country don't have home games against Malone or Walsh. And most of all, top programs don't play in the mac.
  11. Wow what a stinker....I mean Eastern Michigan???? This team lays more eggs than Peter Cottontail. Well pretty much every opponent that plays us is more athletic than we are (minus Miami) so if shots are not falling what do we really have on offense? I've pretty much given up on the prospect of this team ever breaking out and playing above the rest of this landfill conference. Time to roll the dice in Cleveland.
  12. Any word on who is going to be the team secretary?
  13. I'll take an NCAA tournament APPEARANCE over the soccer or football postseason options hands down....NCAA tourney is the greatest event in sports. After that I'd prefer a bowl game then the soccer title. I think we should all be proud of the soccer team but seriously.....
  14. I hate losing to the felons, but is this really something to hang our heads on? Win all our home games and split the roadies and we'll be right in the mix. We won the tournament as a 5 seed and lost it as a 1 seed so how much does seeding really matter? It's going to come down to how we're playing in March.
  15. What's the beef with the Coverage in Cleveland? I think they do a good job considering. Honestly the Cleveland media did cover soccer very well. Heck I went to my relatives house who have no ties to Akron in the greater Cleveland area over the holidays and they were watching zips soccer on ESPN when I got there. Caleb Porter and his staff were even recognized for their accomplishments at a Cavs game. The problem is our revenue sports have done very little for this University and they should be what carries us. Heck, Cincy who is well out of the Cleveland area has gotten coverage in this area because of their football team. They always were interviewing Kelly on 850 AM. I always see them on fox sports Ohio. Seeing what we have invested in this campus and the crazy fees we pay, it is frustrating that we still cannot break out in this terrible conference we play in. Come on now. We took 15k to our first bowl game in detroit. We are turning people away at soccer games. How about the Info on its opening day before our football team layed an egg that was the 2009 season? Sure the hoops team kind of took people by surprise last year but they are what they are....a good team in a minor league conference. I think the fans are there but the money makers need to start showing that they are major league.
  16. We're beating a dead horse. The MAC is irrelevant and we have sure done nothing tohelp the cause. I don't even go to nonconference games...for what? I likeintense games when there is something on the line. You'll see me in Cleveland and other conference games at the jar when they count, but Joe Akron ain't stupid.
  17. We have good MAC players, but we pretty much have to play our A game for 40 minutes to have a shot at legitimate teams. We just don't have the athleticism which has pretty much been a constant for zips basketball over the years. This isn't the soccer team. It's MAC basketball. What did you guys really expect?
  18. I'm in my car listening to frenchie....can't believe it. Speechless
  19. I'm skeptical. But do we really know what we are getting as far as X's and O's? He's not even an offensive or defensive coordinator so we don't even know his playcalling.. I think Weis pretty much ran the offense. I don't know. It's a roll of the dice to me. Now if you're recruiting at Notre Dame you had better have a top 10 recruiting class. I'm a little perplexed.
  20. Really? Looks like all they would end up with is a glorified JAR. Might as well renovate the JAR and get the place to ourselves.
