  1. Akron played bad and almost beat a damn good MAC team. This, my friends, is progress. In 2013, we lost 43-3 to a similar Ohio team on homecoming in the rain. This year, both teams played gritty, but Ohio's ability to stuff the run ultimately decided it. There were drops and stupid penalties, but if we get that defensive hold on the throw along the sidelines to Wolf, we win this game. If the Zips play with that defensive intensity for 60 minutes, they would shut everyone out. The offense stunk today. The penalty on the pass to McNeil was BS because Bohan fell over and they called a hold on him because the guy tripped over him (I'm pretty sure). We played like shit and put up 12 against a great defense and Stein finally played like the senior he is. The division is still in reach, but it will be tough. NOW BEAT EMU!!!!! (Sorry if I repeated myself or this seemed choppy. I'm tired and on my phone.)

  3. Catch. The. Damn. Football. Beat Savannah State.
  4. I watched one of the videos of the preseason show that they had a couple of weeks ago and it definitely looked bigger than the past couple of years. I can't wait to hear them on Saturday!
  5. If the Zips can beat an ACC team in front of 20k+, you have to think some of those fans (obviously not the Pitt fans) will be back for another game. It's not exactly a "must win", but it would be huge for the program.
  6. I'm excited to see what this offense can do against teams that aren't half as good as Oklahoma. Also, did anyone else see the play on first and goal that had the false start called on Akron? Cody Grice was going to receive the direct snap, but someone jumped. Yeah, you read that correctly. This new offense will surely be like nothing anyone has ever seen, and that could be a huge advantage going forward.
  7. You shouldn't be surprised because those helmets are worth every cent of $500.
  8. James Conner is out for the year with an MCL injury and will have surgery this week. Looks like we'll see a lot of Qadree Ollison, who ran for 207 yards against YSU.
  9. Woodson's runs were during garbage time.
  10. I wouldn't make any judgements until we play Pitt and Lafayette.
  11. For those of you wanting to watch for the first time, or re-watch the game:
  12. 21 points could be the magic number for Akron again. If the D can stuff Conner and the Ollison guy who carried for 207 vs. YSU, they'll have to beat us through the air. Tyler Boyd will be back, but Chad Voytik SUCKS. The offense must produce though.
  13. The Can't-Illinois game shocked the hell out of me. I didn't expect Can't to win, but Illinois is a bottom tier B1G that just fired their coach. I was expecting Can't to be a little better this year, but maybe not anymore. I think that if they lose to Delaware State next week, Haynes will be done.
  14. When did I say that I was pinning my hopes of success on the defense? Just because I think we can beat Pitt doesn't mean we'll do it with only defense. No crap the offense has to be better. That's not a secret. Pitt gave up 37 to YSU today, and Oklahoma is a playoff contender. It's one game against one of the best teams in the country. Let's wait it out instead of giving up after one week like all of the Can't fans that already have on their team. A little faith goes a long way.
  15. So, the defense was mediocre tonight? 17-3 at the half and the offense couldn't stay on the field for more than five minutes of real time. That's pretty damn good. There isn't another team in the MAC that could play that poorly on offense and only give up 41 points.
  16. Man, what a weird game. The offense is whack-o, and the defense is outstanding. At the end of the day, I know we can take Pitt again. GO ZIPS!!!
  17. This is, by far, the best team on our schedule. It's okay if we don't light it up or make every stop.
  18. 76 yd TD for OK on their first play of the half. 24-3 and not looking good.
  19. I wouldn't make that assumption just yet.
  20. Also, I'm loving Larry Williams right now. He's already got folks promoting football in the community.
  21. I wasn't expecting this athletic of a defensive front from Oklahoma. They're making it tough for the line now. We're fine, though. We're doing just fine.
