It's hard to pick where to start so I'll just make a general comment. The education one receives at Can't is laughable at best. Only an idiot would go to this school. It's one thing to be born an idiot and try to improve yourself as life progresses. It's another thing to be born an idiot and pay to go to a school that would make one a bigger idiot.

From the looks of lance99's post, you are right on the money. My guess is there are problems throughout LA in terms of the condition of buildings in higher education. I still feel good about what these players did and I wish there would be more from other schools in the future. It's time to shake up the power structure in college athletics and make them a little nervous.

Article This article doesn't go into detail about how bad the conditions at Grambling are, but you can look that up for yourselves. Let's just say, mold growing on walls and floors, mold growing on players equipment, lockers falling down, floors falling apart and staph infections. When adults around athletics, meaning administration of schools and NCAA, don't do what is right by the players, they players have to take control. They did in this case and everyone who watches college football should note that social causes start out slowly and then build a momentum of their own. Yes, the All Players United (APU) is a social movement that probably quietly picked up some steam last weekend. Without the players, there are no games. The members of the NCAA should take note of what happened last weekend. It will be happening again more in the future. I was watching Lou Holtz carry the party line about the players having to play on Saturday because of what not playing will do to Jackson State. It's amazing, homecoming went on without them and people still had a good time. What Holtz probably has no idea of is that of all the people in the country who would understand when injustice is being committed, people in Jackson, MS at an HBC would understand the most. Holtz really sees it through the eyes of college coaches. Most coaches and ADs wouldn't care if every player on their team had a staph infection as long as they were winning. But then again, I would assume that some on the board think mold, staph infections, buildings in disrepair, etc are all OK as long as the coaches/ADs get the money they have worked for as long as the players get a nice trip to Hawaii or something. Right CK?

Good job Zips! Goes to show how hard it is to get winning. Even with the game in hand, the Zips were searching for a way to lose. The great news is they found a way to win instead of finding a way to lose.

I don't follow soccer. My guess...Most Wake fans never get too excited or too upset. Sports are something they all do to take a break from counting their money.

Thanks for posting this MDZip. Interesting indeed. Goes to show how many bad coaches there are out there. It is true Miami is in around the same position we were a couple of years ago. How the two programs got so bad though are completely different stories. Miami got bad as a result of a good AD who had lost interest in the school. Akron got bad as a result of a terrible AD who had no clue what he was doing. Miami has a long road ahead of them. It could be a suicide mission for a young coach. I look for them to hire a retread who is willing to take the job.

If so, they aren't committed to anything and my score could be more lopsided.

They will score easily late in the game against the same back-up players some people wanted to see start last week. Our starters will handle them easily.

I like the Zips winning big this weekend. Teams that fire their coach mid season either get a spark from it or they flame out. The flamed out last weekend. They are counting the days until the end of the season. Akron 35 Miami 14 Never even that close. Miami scores a late TD to add some respectability to the score.

I was watching ESPNU yesterday and they did a breakdown on trends in college football play calling in the spread offense and I found it fascinating. Basically, team are running two different plays at the same time in different areas of the field. The QB decides after the ball is snapped which to run. Watch for this the next time you are at a game. Example 1: A team snaps the ball to the QB. He looks left at two receivers running standard drop back pass patterns. Seeing they are covered and with the running back sneaking out of the backfield to the right where the two WRs on the right are running roll out pass patterns. The QB rolls that way and completes a pass. Example 2: Trips left and the receivers run the bubble screen. The play isn't there so the QB hold the ball and gives it to the RB next to him. The OLine is blocking for a run play and the team gets good yards with the play. The modern spread offense gets better and better with time. Every time defenses catch up a little, wrinkles like this are introduced. I'm totally fascinated with it and Saturday at 4 PM you can watch Oregon, a team that has mastered it, run it. I wouldn't want to be a defensive coordinator right now. How do you stop two plays being run at once? It's a nightmare. So much has to go right.

Look, I don't want it to seem like I'm passing judgement on guys who find it homoerotic to watch MMA. If they enjoy it and get an emotional response from it, then I say live and let live.
