  1. Tells me that if we didn't have so many turnovers, we win on additional shots.
  2. $39 per person to watch the Zips win another MAC Championship sounds like a good deal to me. I would pay more if I could go.
  3. I'd like to revise my prediction based upon the fact that three of us (JZ84, skip-zip and The Great GP1) think OU will have tired legs. I'm going to take the average of those three brilliant predictions (numbers rounded down) and say: Zips 74 OU 67
  4. I like the Zips tonight. OU had a great first half shooting last night and was subpar the second half. Tired legs hurt shooting. OU may be a tired team and they live and die with the three point shot. Zips 70 OU 63 The score will look closer than the actual game as the Zips control throughout.
  5. I would say that the MAC is already a marginal D1A conference and is already insignificant to most of the college athletics world. The bad news is it is a terrible league. The good news is it couldn't get much worse. Doing nothing for five years to see if the BCS level schools start their own division or not wouldn't be that bad of a decision. We should not react to what they do because we can't control what they do. If they start their own division, then we made the right choice and can figure out how we prosper in the new world of college athletics. We could do very well in a division between IAA and BCS. If we decide in the next five years to make a move, it can't be alone because no conference appears to be interested in bringing on a single MAC school from traditional MAC states. We would have to do it as a group of schools from the MAC looking to make a move to a CUSA or when the Big East gets done turning itself into CUSA (The Big East is in its death throws right now. Once UCONN and Louisville depart in the next few years, it is over for it being a serious conference.) or Sun Belt or something like that. Would we be invited as a small group from the MAC to join another conference? That question worries me a little, but we could. If we didn't, God help us. Whatever the nonBCS conferences do, they should do it on their own and not worry about things they can't control like what the BCS schools are going to do.
  6. Take the Zips -1. I think Can't isn't a very good team and if the Zips had even a decent start against them the last time the played, the Zips absolutely destroy them. Akron is a much better team and they play great in the MAC Tournament. Unload....
  7. I know everyone is looking to go to the game soon. I'm sure I speak for a lot of us not going, have fun and be safe. Go Zips!!!!
  8. I thought this thread was going to be about defense winning championships. Not beating a team three times a year is in the top three though.
  9. I'm always amazed at the number of landmines the University can step on. The choice of pregame party should have been a slam dunk (pun intended). Which one of the following three facts doesn't belong? 1. Last year, the fans had a blast at Cadillac Ranch before the game. 2. Last year, Cadillac Ranch did a great job as host of Zips fans. 3. This year, a new pregame party place is selected.
  10. Portage County smells Body odor patchouli Bring on the napalm
  11. cares....
  12. I agree. In fact, I believe the players themselves would love to play another game. They came to this school to play the game they love. Give them as many chances in four years to experiece the game.
  13. Looks like it might not be the task it seemed to be when I posted. Funny the things one can find on the internet. Winnebago Beer
  14. Our drinking success is based upon a "winning process" of volume, quality, variety and economic prices. Those $500,000 Winnebegos you see are part of a "building process" those fans use to create the illusion of greatness. Try drinking a Winnebego.
  15. Interesting story. Goes to show that sometimes it is worth the risk with some players. It's all about being smart about who you take. The greater the payoff, the bigger risk you take. If you take a huge risk on a guy, you should limit further risk because the amount of babysitting could get too great. I might have passed on this kid if I was TB. Getting the girls pregnant doesn't bother me. The amount and variety of criminal activity would have caused me to say no.
  16. Seems to be grasping at straws to me. They separate NFL and NCAA football. They also do the same to basketball. Football and basketball have a giant core group of fans. Soccer is a niche sport, like hockey, that will always have a loyal following, but will not take over traditional American sports. Over time, the distance between soccer and hockey will happen in soccer's favor because it doesn't take money to be able to play the game...Similar to basketball. Poor kids (Hispanics) can play soccer because it only takes one ball and a some open space to play. When the best athletes in the US decide to play soccer as their primary sport, like they do in Europe, it will always be the sport kids play who couldn't play any other sport.
  17. If we can hit some outside shots early, we'll destroy the rest of the league. EDIT: Sorry about that. The "o" is dangerously close to the "i".
  18. In general, I'm against this move. How against it?...Not much. I understand there are probably good financial reasons to do it, but is it worth it? I don't know. I think Lee Adams is correct. I'll call it something different though. It is another act of desperation. The problem with beer at a game is it cause people to lose control of themselves, both mentally and physically. The loss of control is why we don't allow people to drink and drive. In the long run, it doesn't do much to create a positive atmosphere around college football.
  19. I'm really looking forward to wathing the Zips again this coming Saturday. Winning the MAC is pretty easy. 1. Minimize mistakes. We can't start out against a team like OU or Buffalo like we did Friday and expect to win. Can't should have had an insurmountable lead against the Zips Friday and weren't good enough to take advantage of it. They aren't good.....OU and Buffalo are good. 2. Get an early lead any way you can get it. Get the little orange ball through the little orange ring. 3. Wait for the other team to poop their pants. This is the secret ingredient in winning the MAC. Teams are dying to blow games so just play well and wait for the inevitable.
  20. Great job Zips. Keep up the good work.
  21. Good point Quickzips. I thought the same thing. Can't scored within one point of their total in the second half as in the first half. Defense was excellent the whole game. It's hard to put the little orange ball through the little orange ring if you keep giving the ball to the other team.

    Buffalo

I agree. They got their butts kicked one night...Every once in a while, you have to take a beating. They were within one point with a minute to go against a very good UB team who already beat them this season. Doesn't smell like a meltdown to me. "The most dangerous team is a team with confidence and momentum." - Bill Cowher. We may not lack confidence (although I would worry about over confidence), but we are lacking momentum at this critical point in the season. I think tomorrow is an extremely important game for the Zips heading into the Tournament. They need to get some momentum to go with that confidence. Top that off with a first round win and things are back to normal as they win another MAC Championship.
  23. Temple is a "Could Have Been". On the surface, it would seem Temple had everything it needed to win at least one MAC Championship, but it didn't. Shame on them.
  24. Much better? They are 7-8 in an average basketball conference. Any hint of them being good is the result of the cupcake icing they have all over themselves. They may be better, but I think there are still comparisons.
