Disappointing loss in the way they lost. I thought they had more in them. Need to physically toughen up if they want to win an NCAA game.

PD says Morehead possible candidate for OSU OC position
GP1 replied to egregiousbob's topic in Akron Zips Football
Respectfully, you're grasping for straws. His recent success isn't very successful. He hasn't been successfully since Oregon. Right about now is a good time to admit getting hired because of the good old boy network isn't a good reason to hire someone. Ryan Day is finished at OSU. There is no energy in the program and a 60 year old isn't going to bring any energy. In fact he is probably coming because being OC is a pretty easy job compared to HC, and the money. Day is a smart guy and a great coordinator. That's about the extent. -

A good fit for what? Nothing you said says he's a good fit for the job he was hired to do. In fact, it's been a long time since he was a significant coach producing high level results expected at a football factory line OSU. Two words come to mind..... washed up. -

I thought Bill O was a stretch. Now they take a washed up Chip Kelly? -
OSU just had their brand new OC leave to coach a horrible BC program. That's a bad look for OSU. If you think it looks bad now, wait until the Alabama transfers who came with O'Brien bail out.

When you have a coach as obviously good ad JG, there has to be concern. His getting hired by someone else presents a level of complexity at his age for him and another school that you may not get with a younger coach. For the school, is a 52 year old coach what they are looking for? I don't know. He's sort of on the edge. For him, how appealing is the location of the next place? NE Ohio is a good place to live, especially at his income level. He seems like a happy guy. I also believe he has school age kids. The schools around NEOhio are very good and disrupting his kids schooling may not be something he wants to do.

I was praying to the good Lord that he would choke on one, but par for the course for a Zips fan, my prayers weren't answered.

That's not the real tiebreaker. The real one is they have a calculation for which MAC Athletic Director can inflict the most damage to the institution they work for. The one that inflicts the most damage wins.

Second game in a three game stretch against strong opponents is good tournament prep.

It's part of a bigger problem. He should be upset about the casual approach the team took to the game once they achieved a big lead.
-
The 1970s called and wants the guy on the scorers table hair back.
-
They have picked it up, but was too casual with the lead earlier.

Zips let their lead get to their heads. Now they have a fight on their hands. This isn't a killer instinct.

Akron's effort is excellent.

Nice crowd. Free parking?

This is really all about football so I'll put it here. https://sports.yahoo.com/sec-big-ten-uniting-to-tackle-pervasive-issues-in-college-athletics--pressures-are-mounting-172832810.html G5 schools had better get together and come up with their own solutions, because whatever comes out of this won't benefit them.

An unimpressive team from an unimpressive basketball conference. I like the Zips chances.

Downtown businesses can't endure another two years of construction like they did with the Main Street renovation. The truth is, not many did. -

Tells me the success of the program is more important than the arena. Both knew what they were getting in to when they took the job. If the arena was as big of a problem as some seem to think, both would have failed at their jobs in lieu of being very successful. -
Can't figure out what I saw yesterday. Bad game? Bad match up? Both? Something else?

There are six wins and a bowl in the overall schedule. Minimum 5 in the MAC and one OOC. No more excuses.

Great post. If the object is to make money, college athletics around the United States is almost entirely failing. I'm not even sure there is enough money in conference consolidation and TV revenues to put much of a dent in the debt because the athletic directors will blow it as soon as they make it. If the goal is to benefit the athletes students alumni fans and general communities around the schools, it does much better. I have no idea how much, but better. I'm not sure why taxpayers aren't given tickets to public universities in exchange for them supporting these programs.

No. It's a terrible area. Not sure what to do about it. The experience is something different. It's never going to be perfect, but it can be better. My advice to everyone is, go to the games and have fun. Don't worry if there isn't a single other person there. Have your fun.
