  1. Spur of the moment trip yesterday. Great day for a game. Thousands of people got together and enjoyed themselves watching a competitive G5 game. The players enjoyed themselves, the students who came enjoyed themselves, alumni all over the place having fun, fans having fun and I'm sure the game benefited their local communities somehow. Someone needs to explain to me again how bowls are outdated and bad for college football because I just don't get it.
  2. If this guy is declaring for the NFL, so am I.
  3. Miami just lost in what was a great game. Both teams played hard and Miami just came up short. Well played game. More G5 vs G5 please. Less G5 vs P5 blowouts.
  4. It's a good place to start and I'm ok with it. I prefer to think athletics should benefit the athletes, students, alumni, fans and general community around the university.
  5. They are large checks. However, they still don't come close to covering operating costs for G5 schools and mostly the taxpayers pick up the rest. I'm OK with this as long as everyone recognizes G5 athletic departments are actually public services and not businesses.
  6. Peanuts indeed. Peanuts are what G5 games pay for P5 schools. The money is in TV regardless of who is watching. The TV model is not for the fan but the casual football fan.
  7. G5 schools are going to get left behind by P5 schools when they ultimately leave the NCAA and start their own division for football. We need to set up our own division before we are stuck with every dreg in FCS.
  8. He's a horrible hire. No high level leadership position while a coach. Nobody anyone recognizes. No ties to local recruiting as far as I can tell. Players will be unimpressed. He is going to fail in a big way. Polish up the spot where we keep the Wagon Wheel because the trophy will reside in it next year.
  9. I don't know if Ken Burns will be a good coach at Kent State or not. What I do know is after 24 hours at Kent State he will be able to produce an 8 part documentary on PBS about why Kent State sucks.
  10. I just noticed this topic and I love the idea. There are a couple conferences we could do this with and should over time. Why not do something like this with football also? An early season weekend of MAC vs CUSA or SBC or whatever would draw interest.
  11. I forget the number, but something like 45% of players in the TP never land on another team. Before a player jumps he had better have another school or become a washout.
  12. This is laughable. Are there any adults at these schools?
  13. It's not just a G5 to P5 move. It's Kent State to P5. Campbell from Toledo to ISU type jump is possible because of the quality of the Toledo program. Same for the guy at Minnesota from WMU. Kent State? No way.
  14. The second happened very close to the end of the game after the votes were in.
  15. Hmmm. I've been thinking about this a lot since reading it and I believe you are correct. He was a dominant player and I can't think of another Zip who dominated the way he did.
  16. A 12 team college football playoffs will solve this problem.
  17. G5 would be even better.
  18. It's not laughable. It's necessary. Sanders took a program that won 21 games in 7 years and won 27 in 3 years. Those players are the faces of failure and need to move on. The players wanted NIL, now they can be treated like professionals.
  19. Rick Neuheisel was just talking about G5 schools having their own national championship. Since P5 schools are destroying college with a 12 team playoff, it may make sense. I think a G5 playoff would be more entertaining than the P5 playoff because G5 schools can't buy championships like those at the top of P5 so the match-ups will be more competitive.
  20. I just saw that. Mistook the Kerry Coombs news as permanent.
  21. Your post was fine. I meant the Ashland newspaper article.
  22. Other than a huge basic fact being wrong as well as the headline, it's a nice article.
  23. Bingo. Historically bad program with bad facilities. It's amazing what Luke Fickle did there. They settled for some bum that used to be the DC at OSU. Cincinnati is finished.
  24. Establish the top 4 after this weekend and all will be solved. In fact, establish a top 2. I'd complain more, but I've realized how horrible the playoffs are and I ignore them. It's a complete joke being played on us by television networks. Much like the World Cup. It does little more than trapping the unknowing in front of a television to throw back beers while watching trash. Much like a #1 vs $16 March Madness game.
  25. He must have just finished watching round one of the college football playoffs last year. The only thing that can solve this problem is a 12 team playoff. More trash, less vomiting.
