johnnyzip84
Elton Alexander has an article in which JD discusses the RB options for Saturday.Link
ZachTheZip
That's interesting to hear. We need to have depth at RB. The season started with three backs who could all be the starter, who we were all comfortable with running the ball. Now we're down to one of them. Tuzze is able to get yards when needed, but I don't know about his ability be a consistent ball carrier. Gary Pride is an unknown at this point, although I remember when we recruited him that he was considered a great prospect. Devoe has the most potential, but the trouble of burning his redshirt makes him a question as well.
ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net
Very interesting! I say that if Devoe is the best they've got at this point, put the ball in his hands. We've all heard a lot about his skill set and talent. I have no problem losing the redshirt if he's the best option. Considering how much better the Zips are this year than most of us expected, if you knew that playing Devoe would make a demonstrable difference, to not play him would be tantamount to saying the season is lost and we're already waiting for next year, 5 weeks into the season.I say WHIP IT, WHIP IT GOOD, and GO ZIPPERS.SeeTeeZip
johnnyzip84
The coaching staff is no doubt trying to assess two things in regards to DeVoe's RS. First, will Andrew Johnson be able to come back any time soon. Second, do they think they can beat Can't w/o DeVoe. If the answers to both of these is YES, then I think there's a good chance that the RS will continue. However if the answer to either one is NO, then I'll bet DeVoe not only plays but gets quite a few touches on Saturday.
GP1
My friends, please be careful of putting your hopes in the hands of a first year player.
GoZips
My friends, please be careful of putting your hopes in the hands of a first year player.GP1, You mean like Ohio State has with Pryor? Here is my take. If Torrence is a high quality player and mature enough to play now ... play him.The idea that we must keep him in reserve for the future is quite pestimistic. Coaches are supposeto be able to recruit in the future. The way JD's teams have performed in the past points to JD nothaving a future as the Zips coach.Play Torrence now. Save your job. skip-zip
Dennis Kennedy will probably just play more snaps this week. If the game plan is anything other than that, I will be surprised.
Dr Z
Dennis Kennedy will probably just play more snaps this week. If the game plan is anything other than that, I will be surprised. On top of that, three-year starter Dennis Kennedy has suffered almost game to game with leg cramps. So the Zips maybe looking at taking the redshirt off a true freshman for the game this Saturday at Can't State.

ZippyAlum
Someone tell DK to drink some dill pickle juice. It's an old fashioned cure for leg cramps. If it's just an old wives tale, so what, it can't hurt. I think it's something about the salt in the pickle brine that does the trick. I used it myself in my former swim team days. lol

Lee Adams
WOW!...this game very likely will determine the direction of the rest of the season and we're talking about having to count on the guy who was actually #3 on the RB depth chart AND maybe 2 guys who haven't played!?...the position of most strength has become a huge question mark...for this game only lets think about getting Bryan Williams a few touches at RB again...this game only...i know thats phyisically draining..but if he can break a couple like he did last year can't has to defense the ground game big time...may open up the field so Jacquemain isn't pressured to win the game....Kennedy is not going to carry the ground game himself...thats why JD is looking at Tuzze,Pride and Torrence...keep your fingers crossed on Saturday, this IS the season... Ryno aka Menace
Is it OK to be overly confident? In 2006 when we beat NCState I thought for sure we would crush the Flushes. And we went out and got beat! Now hear it is again...we have a BCS win and I feel like we should crush the Flushes. They have injuries they have 1 win over a FCS school, and they still have a shot at the east division as long as they get a win over us. So best believe they will be motivated. JD history better not repeat itself!!!

GP1
My friends, please be careful of putting your hopes in the hands of a first year player.GP1, You mean like Ohio State has with Pryor?Considering OSU has no hope left this season after USC took it from them along with their manhood, Pryor is a safe bet. OSU could beat Troy, Minnesota and the rest of the garbage in the Big Ten with Mr. Magoo at QB.

Beanie 4 Heisman
DK is solid. The best all around back we have probably. Alex Allen is is good, but DK is sound in all areas of the game. He is a great pass protector, receiver out of the backfield (some of the best hands on the team), and a very solid runner. Between DK Tuzze and GP we should be good to go at rb this game. I wouldnt expect to see DeVoe.
