Basically it is up in the air right now...does anybody have additional insight or information on this extremely important topic? The Board of Trustees has to decide that. From what I saw they have board meeting in June (which should include a lot of interesting things such as votes on accepting certain large contributions to the University). If they were going to vote on it, it would probably be this meeting, as the next isn't until school starts back up.
MaxZIP
I wonder who will be running the concession stands. Will it be contractors or the University/students? Either way Beer is a necessity!

GP1
...does anybody have additional insight or information on this extremely important topic?Beer is good....... Beer before a college football game is good....... Beer in a college football stadium with potential underage drinking being reported is bad..... Beer could cause an ugly scene..... No beer in the stadium. Let the girls sneak it in their bras like they do at every other school. One mini-bottle at a time. Beer after a college football game is good.......... Whole conferences like the SEC alcohol is banned at all SEC sporting events. That's means even at off campus venues and bowl games involving SEC teams. Alcohol is not sold. UofA is dry campus and they'll have to admend that just so the skyboxes can serve it.I could be wrong. But, I seriously doubt there will be beer sales in the Info. Definite conflict of interests if the trustees approve beer sales at an on-campus college stadium. this is a college stadium, not a professional football stadium. ZachTheZip
They used to sell beer on campus, but I don't know why they stopped. It wasn't an issue before, as far as I know, so that argument doesn't hold water.

Your post reminds me of the motto of Faber College "Knowledge is good." I can't dispute that or your sage wisdom in "beer is good" or "Beer could cause an ugly scene." I would be shocked if the board of trustees don't come out with a no beer vote. To the best of my knowledge Faber didn't have it in their stadium either. GP1
There's only a handful that I know of and one them Wake Forest is actually a mile off campus.I have season tickets to Wake games and there is no beer sold in the stadium. Lots of wine and cheese in the parking lot before the game, but none in the stadium. No ACC school allows booze sales at their games. I went to the ACC BB championship in Charlotte a couple of years ago and sadly enough there were not beer sales at that event either. If I thought the kids wouldn't get out of hand, I would be all for it. Kids will be kids though and frequently bad behavior follows. If they need to drink that badly, they should just do what I suggested before and have their girlfriends stuff mini-bottles in their bras before the game. johnnyzip84
When I was on my 1st tour of the stadium (during the spring game), our tour leader mentioned that Bowling Green had already approved alcohol sales for this season (becoming, I was lead to believe, the only MAC school to do so). I was told on the 2nd tour last weekend that alcohol WILL be served in the LUXURY SEATS at the Info, but that (as we have known for some time) the board had not yet decided on sales for the remainder of the stadium. I tend to agree that, while I might personally prefer it, it's probably not in the best interest of the university. My plan is to get my beer at OBC prior to the game, walk the mile or so to the stadium amidst the pulsating fervor of "Akron Zip Gameday" and then focus wholeheartedly on the game when I am in the stadium

Class of 82
Ah... the memories of pitcher-fulls of 3.2 Miller High Life on Friday afternoons in the Chuckery, with local bands providing entertainment. Of course, we were easily entertained in the 1970s.

ndzeigler
They should not allow alcohol in the stadium. It is a college football stadium and the biggest issue we have on college campuses is underage drinking. It just wouldn't be very classy to allow alcohol in the stadium. It is a college football stadium and the biggest issue we have on college campuses is underage drinking. It just wouldn't be very classy to allow alcohol in the stadium.Don't worry. There's no way alcohol will be permitted anywhere except maybe inside the suites (and probably not in the seating areas). The potential for chaos is simply too great, and UA would be crazy to even think about such a thing. As an aside, though, I really think the underage drinking issue is partly the unintended but predictable result of the screwy drinking laws we have in this country. Back when 3.2 beer was legally obtainable by 18-year-olds, we didn't have nearly as big a problem as we do now. Raising the age for everything to 21 simply drove kids off campus, out of the campus-area bars that served 3.2 beer, and underground to drink the high-powered stuff illegally because there is no legal alternative. And every time anybody tries to raise the issue of a more reasonable, thoughtful and realistic regulation of alcohol consumption by 18- to 20-year-olds, they are branded as dangerous radicals who want to kill children and destroy the fabric of American society. Hilltopper
After I selected my seats today, I asked about the alcohol situation. I was told the Club and loge seats will have alcohol. The rest of the stadium, not likely.
