It's all I can do to explain to them that he can actuallypunt, but the "I love gimmicks" coach has him rugby style punting. If and when we lose to Ken+with probably 40 percent Ken+ fans in our stadium, I will be at the lowest I have ever been asan Akron football fan. We have the talent to win, we just don't. But we might be the underdog in all of the others. Regardless, if Nicely gets more settled and the running game and defense play as well as they did against the Bulls, I still think we can finish strong. It won't be enough to save JD's job, but at this point I'm only hoping for a little momentum and confidence for whoever is chose to take over the program. This implies several wins including one we have already lost. Must be a forfeit for ineligible players or something. None of the offensive players have registered any sacks and only a few have made tackles (after interceptions). In the good old days you could count on someone on the sidelines tripping up an opposing ball carrier as he ran too close to our sideline. The problem is the people with the headsets on. I know blaming the coach may come off as ignorant to other factors, but I really do feel this coaching staff is letting us down on too many levels. Considering the remaining schedule, I see us winning 2, maybe 3 more games. However, this "prediction" is largely based on the hope that the more practice Nicely gets, the more comfortable and confident he will become with the team. However, considering the season thus far, I can just as easily see us dropping the rest of our games. Its tough to say it, but it's something I have to accept as a very real possibility. If anything, I just want to win the Can't game. To be brutally honest, all the other remaining games are insignificant to me because our season, in my opinion, is dead. Winning the Can't game will at least make me feel we were able to do something right, even if it was someone who is just as bad as we are. Re: Coaching Staff Status...JD better know there's a raging fire under his seat right now. These last 4 games have been embarassing, to be kind about the matter, and I am growing tired of the underachievement of this coaching staff. I believed this season JD could turn the ship around and do something good for the university, but he has let me down, and just about every one of us, time and time again. JD, get your act together because its time to "nut up or shut up". The seasons of hopes and dreams has been reduced to the season of anger and disgust, and frankly JD is largely to blame here. If the Zips win another game or two, they will rise from the bottom 10 in the country to the bottom 20. Big deal.I'd much rather see them focus on building for next season. If focusing on future player development produces an extra win or two this season as a side effect, that would be an added bonus. But if the choice is between making a move that will make the Zips win a game or two this year or a lot of games next year, I'd rather invest in the future. Both OU and UA were 0-10 heading into that season finale, with the Zippers pulling off the 24-10 victory and Gerry being carried (briefly) in the air on the shoulders of his appreciative players. While the Zips already own a win in 2009, is it competely out of the question that EMU and UA might face each other, winless in MAC (and FBS) contests?
