ZachTheZip
The Zips take on UIC from the Horizon league tonight at 7:00.UIC Message BoardIf the Zips play like they have been the past few games, this should be another big win. It's great to get all 15 players some playing time for multiple games in a row. Hopefully that trend continues. It might get boring for casual fans, but it's fun to see the deeper bench guys get playing time and watch them learn as they go.
Quickzips
I wouldn't count anything as automatic against UIC. Them and Rhode Island are the two toughest remaining games on our OOC schedule. This is a team that just beat Oregon State from the PAC-10 and demolished an admittedly bad NIU team that the Zips have had problems with over the last few years. At this point in the season I think we are capable of beating anyone left on our schedule if we show up focused for 40 minutes on both ends of the floor. I also think we can lose to a lot of teams left on our schedule if we leave our defense in the locker room for stretches of the game or go through one of our patented scoring droughts. vmd9
Anyone know were to watch the game online? I've been able to find the last few, but this one isn't listed anywhere
Valpo Zip
I have the zipszone package so i will be watching there. If you don't, the horizon league usually provide a free webcast so check the UIC website.

RowdyZip
Wow, for as every bit of polished we looked the last couple games, we look as crappy now. The 2-3 zone is giving us fits.
RowdyZip
Wow, up by nine after a hideous half. Around 35% from the line and somewhere north of a dozen turnovers in 20 minutes will cause some issues in the MAC season. Still on pace for a double digit win. MDZip
18 rebounds for Jimmy Conyers? Holy cow! Cap'n, I think he took your challenge seriously. Correction - 19.
RowdyZip
Zips DOMINATED the boards. I'd rather see them shoot 55%, but still a nice sign.
Quickzips
Jez Cap'n, why couldn't you have thrown down the guantlet for Conyers about 3 years ago? 19 rebounds. JAR record. Not a bad performance for the Zips. Struggled a little with the 2/3 zone early on, but figured it out. Zips dominated the glass led ofcourse by Conyers. Brett McKnight's back looks to be feeling better and the shots are falling for him. Good performances from Roberts, Humpty and Nikola as well. Zeke seems to have hit a bit of a freshman wall. We're going to need him to fight through that. Anyone seen Brett McClanahan lately? Is he still even on the team?
Captain Kangaroo
RUN FOR COVER...MOUNT SAINT CONYERS HAS ERUPTED!!Great game by the Zips tonight. Obviously Conyers, but both McKnight brothers played strong games as well. UIC's guards out-quicked us numerous times...they hit their three's and free throws...and we still won by double digits. UIC is a "MAC-level" team. St Francis would lose to them 10-out-of-10 times.Fun game to watch. Thank you Zips!

Trainer thinks it could possibly be a hamstring pull...won't know until tomorrow when he goes in to see him at 7:30 AM. I think right now, Zeke's body is beat up and the 2 days he is going to be home is GREATLY needed....he just needs a few minutes away from everything. Give him a minute for his body to catch upwith all the work he is doing and then it is a wrap!

I know they're 3-7 .. but that team would cruise to the West title the last few years. This was a pretty good win for the Zips. The Flames would do quite well in the MAC .. They did dust NIU by 20 .. their matchups would cause a lot of problems, and their perimeter strength would win them some games. Just not at the JAR.Go Zips! Dave in Green
Well, Zeke banged up his knee pretty bad tonight. Give him a minute for his body to catch upwith all the work he is doing and then it is a wrap! That was a scary moment when the UIC player fell across Zeke's leg. I was really holding my breath. It was one of those awkward tangles like you see in football games that often result in leg injuries. It was a huge relief when Zeke was able to shake it off and run upcourt. But even if there was no injury, I can imagine there will be a lot of soreness in that leg.Overall, the Zips continue to look better as a team. They still have a way to go, but their unselfish teamwork is starting to pay off. While they were a little sloppy early on, they protected the ball pretty well when it mattered. Although their outside shooting wasn't bad, it was the inside passing and points in the paint that were most important. They will need this more and more to win games as the season goes on, because the outside shot won't always be there.

They will need this more and more to win games as the season goes on, because the outside shot won't always be there. Also, I think it's important to remember that in conference, the Zips should be able to dictate play inside. They're more physical and have more bodies than most any team in the league as far as post play goes. That can help make sure our shooters are open, committing like they did last night to punching it in.
