Dr Z
The Cleveland Cavaliers played heavily on the "home" theme when they made their presentation to LeBron James over the wekeend. And now they are sharing part of their presentation. The team's home page includes this video, which it showed to James on Saturday. The Cavs' video production team has won a local Emmy for its game presentation video, and this one is just as well done -- especially to sentimental Clevelanders. In the video, the "home" theme is hit hard, with appeals coming from fans and followers. Cavs try to represent Akron in their video. Good job? Wally B
As much as akron is a part of metropolitain Cleveland it has always maintained its own scene and vibe. LeBron attests to this when he talks about the "330". If he choses to leave the Cavs, Cleveland will be irrate, but i suspect Akron will continue to cherish him as one of our own! Spin
I'll follow him wherever he goes. If he leaves I'll still watch the Cavs team, but LBJ will still be my player.

I would've been the same way, but he's now announcing it on ESPN. If he leaves, it's very classless. He's basically stabbing NEO in the heart. Z.I.P.
I think it should be live on WAKR, Channel 23, with Jerry Healey hosting. Has to be on Friday, though. Otherwise, KingKron is a total sellout!!!
skip-zip
This is just my opinion. But, what I always find very amusing is how Cleveland uses Akron whenever it benefits them. They leave the Coliseum in Richfield so that they would make the Cavs "Cleveland's team". But since LeBron is from Akron, it seem that it's now convenient for Cleveland to embrace Akron as a part of their area. This has gone on for years. Anyone who becomes famous from anywhere within a 100 mile radius is claimed as their "hometown kid". They did this with that singer from the Pretenders and Joe Walsh when they sang the national anthem at a couple of World Series baseball games back in the 90s. I never associate Akron as being part of the Cleveland metro area. Nor do I want to be associated with the Cleveland area in any way, shape or form. It's 50 miles away, and in many cases I wish it was further than that. Quite frankly, I have to agree with some of the folks on here who believe that Akron will benefit more if LeBron is playing somewhere else. Because, I think many people outside of this area identify LeBron as being a Cleveland hometown boy.

If Jim Thome had been from my hometown (Wadsworth) and then left the Tribe the way he did (lying about saying he would take less money and stay with the team)i would still feel the same way. I root for the home TEAM not some individual that thinks he's bigger than the game himself. Honestly i was all for LeBron before this circus he created in the last month or so. Now i could care less about the douche.

ZachTheZip
The whole media circus he and his marketing team (Can we contract them to create a gigantic media circus for the Zips?) has created is a power play. They are changing the landscape of professional sports with this move by creating the idea of a player that is a valuable commodity that the owners and big execs should have to fight over, instead of the player being a disposable asset at the mercy of the league. He's transferring the power from the owners to the players, and that's shaking things up behind the scenes in ways we can't predict.

Blue & Gold
I hope he plays professionally anywhere other than Cleveland. He doesn't play for the "hometown" team as it is - he doesn't play for the Akron Cavaliers. I'm from Akron. So is LeBron. Screw Cleveland. It's real simple people. In spite of how the Cleveland media has brainwashed you, Akron is not Cleveland and Cleveland is not Akron. Burn in hell, Cleveland.
ZachTheZip
If UA was smart, they would have immediately organized a watch party in the JAR and invited cameras from ESPN to film the crowds reaction live and show the party/chaos during the latter half of the TV special. Considering he played half his HS games there and just had his camp there, I doubt ESPN could resist.

How much ass kissing is enough? Half the expected crowd showed up to LBJpprecitation Day. Why waste the time and effort on a guy who didn't attend UofA and his only connection to UofA is the coach he played for his freshman and soph years of high school? What would be in it for UofA? On my way home from the gym this morning, a couple of DJs on Charlotte radio were blasting how obnoxious this whole thing has become. It was really funny too because they were discussing how in addition to declaring his team, LBJ is going to explain the origins of the universe during his ESPN special tonight. This whole thing is completely out of control and sickening. I will be glad when 10:00 PM hits tonight so I can turn the TV on without having to listen to it. Good luck LBJ. Stay in Cleveland. You won't find a fan base as willing to kiss your ass as this one.

ZachTheZip
What would be in it for UofA? Free face time on ESPN. The announcers would mention Dambrot and UA's basketball program. It's good for recruiting when a recruit can point at the TV and say "hey, that's the school that's trying to recruit me, and they're important enough in the sports world for ESPN to come there". ZachTheZip
I think he might actually choose the Clippers. He keeps buddying up to old-school businessmen trying to learn their financial secrets, and you don't get more like an old-school, cigar smoking millionaire than Don Sterling. zen
wah wah wah... Everyone in the world who takes themselves too seriously (which is, in fact, almost everyone in the world), are tired of LeBron. It takes a closet narcissist to call out a public one. We are all selfish creatures, and those of us who have been humbled by life hold in contempt those of us who have not. I say, go Lebron. MILK THAT MEDIA COW! What a bunch of contemptuous crybabies. Screw 'em all.

If he signs with a team other than Cleveland, then the media will be all over the sad fan base in NEO and harping on LeBron about what he did to NBA fans in NEO. If he signs with Cleveland, then we'll hear all the "woulda, coulda, shoulda..." ..."had a championship, more endorsements, a piece of Madison Square Garden, followed in Jordan's shoes, yada, yada, yada." Please make it STOP!
Spin
He's tainted his legacy with this whole media whore circus. I'm changing my mind listening to the national media and local fans.
