ziptrumpet87
What? NoTex/Mex downtown? If thats the way you want to go try Azteca on E. Market,El Meson in Cuy. Falls(Portage Tr),Mariachi Loco on Waterloo Rd. But anybody coming to this area this time of year has to go to Cuy Valley NP. Ride the train from downtown if you don't want to drive. Hit the Winking Lizard in Peninsula. Ride the train back. Around here you can't waste good weather sitting inside. Papa Joe's is a good Italian place in the Valley. A little more expensive but a nice place. But,you will have to wait if you don't have a reservation most evenings. Lee, I am in the area for a while and would live to take my young daughter to ride the train...she loves trains. Can you give me more info on where to catch the train and when it is operational?? Thanks :-) Here it is: Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
akronzips71
It has been around 40 years since I last ate at the Diamond Grille. But it was the best steak I ever had. I can still remember it. And they used to have banquets and such in the back room. I recall seeing Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Howard Cosell in the place. Wow, I'm surprised those guys all came to Akron for a Zips game. Was that the one Howard called on ABC? Always a wise ass. Back before you were born they used to have some GOLF and BOWLING tournaments in Akron that were rather national in scope. And the Diamond Grille was where the Pros and Announcers went to eat.

Thanks :-) The website below or the Cuyahoga Valley National Park website. Or,if you are near downtown you can go to the station(Northside) that is down off of Howard St. Its near Luigi's across from the condos. Make sure to check the schedule. The train is running but they are doing some construction between Akron and Independence. Most of the schedule is within the Park. There are some days it does go south. You can get on and off the train in the park if you want to hike. If you have a bike and want to ride on the Towpath ask abbout the 'Bike Aboard' program. They will put your bike on the train, you can get off at one of the stops, ride the Towpath and get back on at another stop. Its a good deal You might see the bald eagles. You will see blue herons. Have fun!

I think announcing golf and bowling events is what made Howard Cosell famous.
