CSU tops K.e.n.t 69-66

Thanks to the Horizon League free video/audio feed, just finished watching the Vikings come back from a 16-point second half deficit to beat Can't 69-66 in Cleveland. Don't really like the Vikings either but nice to see the Flushes go down the way they did. CSU likes to drive to the basket. Can't wait to see how many of those are swatted away by Zeke, Egner and Company.

I totally disagree Gozips. Nobody "dislikes" the flushes more than I do but in OOC basketball games, I turn my heart off and let my brain take over. The outcome is usually me rooting for MAC teams for RPI purposes.

Very entertaining watching Can't suck, and CSUcks struggle at the line. Norris Cole isn't anything special. He was too fast or explosive from what I could tell.

Things to take away from this game:

1) Can't sucks

2) CSUcks isn't much better, if at all.

3) Can't sucks

4) Gary Waters' tooth gap has gotten larger

Akron should take care of business against both teams. :screwks:

I wouldn't root for Can't if they were playing team Hamas.

Agreed.

An undefeated CSU team coming into the JAR next Wednesday, battling it out for NE Ohio bragging rights, makes for the best OOC game the Zips have had on-campus in some time. In the big picture, a CSU win gives us an edge in NIT consideration over the Vikings. Their K.e.n.t. win helps our RPI. If we beat CSU, K.e.n.t. begins to worry more about the Zips in 2011. And on and on and on...

Congrats to Gary Waters for beating the F.lashes, and giving UA a marquee OOC match up in November. Love it. B)

And for those of you who don't believe next Wednesday's game is anything special...wait til you see it. Then post back and tell me -- "You were right."

If CSU weren't on our OOC schedule too I could maybe, MAYBE see biting my tounge, resisting the urge to vomit and being alright with a Can't State win (I could never openly root for the Piss and Blue, doing so would be blasphemous). With CSU on our schedule any RPI hit that comes to the conference from Can't losing is pretty much evened out once we spank the Vikings around the JAR next week.

More bad news for the MAC, those vaunted Bobcats, the pre-season favorite poised for that deep NCAA tournament run, fell to Oakland at home last night by a 78-66 count. Guess D.J. Cooper and Co. are mortal after all.

We lost to Austin Peay last year, and ended up having a phenomenal season...at least by some people's standards.

To paraphrase Mark Twain -- "Reports of OU's death are greatly exaggerated."

With hard work and dedication, the CBI is still within reach of the Bobcats.

The Bobkitties are no better than the team that went into last seasons conference tournament as a 9 seed. In fact, they may even be worse. All the talk that DJ Cooper was the real catalyst for that team in the tournament is already starting to be proven hogwash. The guy who was the real spark for that team was sitting in the stands at the Convo last night wondering what in the world made him think he was an NBA draft pick. Cooper is a good point guard, no doubt, but Bassett was the man who put that team on his back in March and lead them on that unbelievable run. Anyone who argues otherwise was simply not paying attention. Not to mention they have nothing that resembles a low post scoring threat and they are relying on three true freshmen for major minutes in their backcourt. The idea that they are the best team in the conference is a joke and should be taken as an insult by KD and our players.

As a CSU fan, I was excited about the win over Can't. The Vikes were able to neutralize Can't's size advantage by implementing our devastating press defense. That same press defense that last season nearly caused a huge upset over West Virginia last December.

CSU was able to handle Greene in the second half by going into a zone. The size of Greene and Manns was killing us and the zone coupled with the press helped bring us back.

I am not going to sit here and talk trash and rile people up by saying that CSU is going to beat Akron. It should be an excellent game. One thing that I will tell you about the Vikes is that they can score the basketball. Cole, Harmon, and Montgomery are big time shooters. The Zips are also fortunate that Dee Brown is out for Cleveland State until mid December. Brown is a defensive dynamo and can run the floor well. CSU is a different squad with him in the lineup.

With that being said, CSU has had problems in recent years winning on the road. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if CSU lost to Louisiana Lafayette on Friday.

And for all the non-believers in Norris Cole, just watch on the 24th. He will be the best player on the floor. He is a big time talent and is probably the best player in the Horizon Conference (and yes, I know that Shelvin Mack is in the Horizon).

I am looking forward to this matchup.

Detroit is up 3 on Syracuse at halftime. I doubt that score will stick but that would help our out of conference schedule.

Don't look past Youngstown State on Saturday. I am not expecting us to beat you, but we are off to a 2-0 start and just beat Buffalo by 11: 64-53 tonight.

Good Luck tonight vs. Dayton!
