I agree, 1 red card for michigan. But late in the game that spurs their goal and one goal for us as well.

Thanks. Just wondering if there was any reason that their level of play has jumped so much over the past month. I'm going to go with 3-1. Hoping that the D can finally make a stand this tourney.

With the Wolverines looking for redemption and on a 9 game winning streak since UA beat them 7-1, I think this will be a very close game. UM's offense seems to be clicking and even the goal they scored against us the 1st time (1st opponent goal at Lee Jackson in 2010) was an impressive blast. I think, in the end, the huge pitch will ultimately play into the Zips hands (feet?) and UA will prevail.

Doesn't hurt me at all. Try following the topic at hand though. Thread title, "Akron vs. Michigan Part Duece," why on earth would you think that a story about an OSU fan you know belongs here? Try the off topic forum.

I called you out, but I'm tired of every thread being hijacked to talk about Ohio State. I don't care about Ohio State, I care about the Akron vs. Michigan game.

For my part I will throw out this prediction:

Our D is due for a good game. It seems counterintuitive that I would pick the game against Michigan (whose offense appears to be on a roll), but like Coach Porter said yesterday... In the back of their minds Michigan knows they cannot compete with us. We have beat them at their place (5-1 last year) at our place (7-1 this year) and we will beat them in California.

On to the National Championship!

I say the Zips dominate the whole game, but our defense like to keep teams in it in the end. With the nice warm weather I can see Mattocks getting two goals this game, and the Freshman on the other team, Soony Sadd, is going to be hard to stop.

Zips win though and that's all that will matter.

I think we're in their heads too much from the last game. We take care of business and knock them out with a 3-1 final, with 2 of our goals coming in the first half. We've been playing in the cold and it's hurt our offensive attack, so the warmer weather should do a lot of good.

But this isn't just any soccer match....it's the final four.....a shot at the national championship game....a lot is on the line. Care to redo your prediction?

One to nil Zips. Darlington will have a lot of good opportunities and then pass it off to Ampai who will try to go up the middle and lose possession (as usual). In the second half Perry will get impatient, burn the entire Michigan back line and drill one to the back of the net.

Matching set of bookends around the 7-1 torching ... 5-1 last year and another 5-1 to advance to the Finals.

With Hollywood so close and with so much on the line, the pain, agony, near-death-experiences ... flops ... complete with displays of utter disbelief will come early and often - 15-20 easy.

Big Ten 'style' of play will be rewarded with the usual handful of yellows and quite possibly a red or two (caused in part by Akron's possession style of play; seems to generate a lot of frustration ... ).

This is the match where Porter should pull another MF into the holding position. Michigan is all offense. They are excellent in the offensive third and will shoot at the slightest chance. If we stall their attack in the middle 3rd, the match is ours.

I disagree with the thought that if we just stop their talented scorers, we'll win the game. I don't see us taking that approach. We scored 7 goals against these guys recently. They obviously can't match up with us around the goal. I see us focusing on attacking offensively, as always, and putting enough points on the board that there's no way they can match us.
