Describe your game. I just feel like I’m a versatile 3-4 man. I’m 6-7. I feel like I can play pretty much any position on the floor, guard any position on the floor and, I mean, I score inside-out and I get a lot of rebounds.

You grew quite a bit recently, correct? Yes. From my sophomore year to my senior year I grew six inches and put on 75 pounds.

How has that affected your game? As a sophomore, I didn’t start on J.V. and over that summer I just grew, worked on my game and I’ve turned into a varsity starter. It’s changed me from just a standing-around 3-point shooter to more of a swing 3-man who can shoot 3′s also.

So would you say you have good guard skills for a big man? Yes. I mean, I’ve always been a point guard on every team I’ve played on all my life. Then all the sudden last year I had to change to a big. I feel like it helped a ton with footwork, ballhandling and shooting.

Do you feel comfortable in the post? I really do. That’s definitely, I feel, a strong point in my game. I have quite a few post moves that work.

How has the season gone for your high school team? Great. We’re 14-1 right now and ranked in the top-25 in our state.

How has the season gone for you personally? Good. I mean, I’m averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds. Really good. Recently teams have tried to double-team me and triple-team me and tried to slow us down but a lot of guys on our team have stepped up.

Which Michigan coaches have been talking with you? I’ve spoken with Coach Meyer and Coach Beilein quite often, actually.

Have they been at practices or games? Yeah, Coach Meyer was at my game this past Tuesday.

Have you been offered by Michigan? I have not, no.

What are Michigan coaches telling you regarding an offer? They just say they have one scholarship available and if I keep showing them what they like to see, I’m definitely in the running for it.

Have they given you any sort of time frame on when they would make a decision? No, they haven’t told me any specific time.

Any other offers on the table? I have some MAC offers, Horizon League and A10.

Should Michigan offer, would they be number one on your list? They’d very much be first.

Have you visited? I came up for the home Penn State game.

What’d you think? It’s awesome. It really is. It’s a great atmosphere.

Any other Michigan visits planned? Yeah, we’re hoping to catch another game real soon once the coaching staff is real, like, not busy for a weekend, then we’re going to head up there and actually visit.

What do you like about Michigan? I really like the way coach Beilein coaches, I like that it seems like every player on the team is a good person, a good player and good to be around. Coming from Ohio I know it’s uncommon, but I’ve always been really rooting for Michigan. I really think it’s a cool place to be.

How do you see yourself fitting into Michigan’s offense? I think right now they might not have that slashing, athletic presence who plays above the rim and I think I could provide that.

Anything specific you’re focused on improving about your game right now? Rebounding. Offensive rebounding and just going after every ball.

Any player (besides maybe your father, Larry Nance Sr.) who people compare you to? Actually, a lot of my friends say I play like Rudy Gay for the Memphis Grizzlies.

That articles from over a month ago. Michigan has one scholarship remaining and has offered it to Peoria (IL) big man Max Bielfeldt. So if Max signs with Michigan, it looks like we got a good chance at getting him

I'm intrigued w/ Larry. He's listed @ 6'7", but his dad was 6'10". He may grow another couple inches yet.

Tomorrow night is the Summit -vs- Stark Boys All-Star Basketball Game. It's @ 7:00 @ Walsh University. If anyone is able, go check Larry out & report back! I enjoy that game every year but I'm unable to make it tomorrow. It's usually not much of a game as Summit usually blows Stark out, but it's still usually a lot of fun just watching the best players in the area.

I'm sure you'll also get to see BGSU recruit JaVon what's-his-name (Clarke?) from Timken.

Oh, I'm also pretty sure you'll get to see Firestone's Darius Carter.

Another quality Akron area recruit that goes to Wyoming....man, that is a terrible loss...

Shayatt is a funny dude...he was at Wyoming for a single season, then bolted for Clemson. People in Wyoming were pissed. Now they take him back...and a lot of people are even more pissed.

I predict Nance Jr. will go to Wyoming, hate it, and transfer back to either CSU, OU or Akron (my crystal ball is on the fritz and I can't see the exact final destination yet). Slight chance he will also renege on his commitment. No chance he plays 4 years in Wyoming.

Who was the small forward from St. V/M that went to Wyo? He's no longer on their roster. Too bad we just didn't have room for a scholly offer to Larry Jr.

Desmar Jackson, Wyomings leading scorer from last year is transferring to Southern Illinois.

Jackson went to Harding not St. V's. Daylen Harrison went to St. V's but I can't find where he is transferring.

I just don't get this Ohio-Wyoming recruiting pipeline (if you can even call it that). The Buckaroos had a starting point guard from Youngstown during Joby Wright's era -- and that incredibly quick guard who transferred to OU. I've been to Laramie. Spent a week there one day.

I think in Nances case, it has more to do with the fact that Shyatt was at one time the head coach at Clemson, Larry Nance Sr's alma mater.

Larry Nance Sr

Larry Donnell Nance (born February 12, 1959 in Anderson, South Carolina) is a retired American professional basketball player. A 6 ft 10 in (2.08 m) power forward/center from Clemson University, Nance played thirteen seasons (1981–1994) in the NBA as a member of the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Looks like he is doing pretty well at Wyoming.

Remaining Undefeated College Basketball Teams

Wyoming (12-0)

Difference-maker: Larry Nance Jr. The sophomore has played up in the big games for Wyoming, scoring 14 against Colorado, 19 in the win over Illinois State and 21 in a win over rival Denver. The Cowboys' staple has been their defense, as you'd expect from a Larry Shyatt-coached team, but it's their surprisingly-balanced offense that has been a pleasant plus.

Daylen Harrison is showing on Eastern Michigan's roster.

Harrison was recruited to Wyoming by a Hoban HS alum who was then on Wyoming's staff. The coach then left for a year at Southern Illinois (where he brought the two Wyo players (Jackson and Harrison) who were redshirts last season and was again part of the coaching merry-go-round. If I have time (and no one else beats me to it) I will try and find out the guy's name. I have a feeling he's in Athens now. Anyhow, Harrison was able to transfer from SIU to EMU without losing a year.

edit: Here is the Coach, Anthony Stewart, a Mount Union grad from Hoban, who's had a fine coaching career already. I spoke with him last year at the Diamond Head Classic -- knowing he would likely be looking for a new stop as Lowery was on his way out after helping SIU turn the corner, but stalling. If we had had an opening after last season, he might have come home.

Larry Jr had 12, 5 and 3 steals in 32 minutes last night as Wyoming won at SMU (Larry Browns school). They are pretty good and should crack the top 25 next week.

Side note is Larry Sr has another son Pete in 7th grade at Revere... Interested to see where he ends up, could be recruited hard if his brother makes the league (Not an outrageous thought as he is playing well and starting as a sophmore)
