Doug Snyder
What will be the final 2011 season record?? My prediction is 7-5 I went to the practice today and was pleasantly surprised in some areas and disappointed in others. The crucial area of disappointment is the quarterbacks. None are extremely accurate. Moore is significantly more accurate than Nicely but still missed on receivers when he was rolling out and under some pressure. My guess is that whoever the quarterback is...they will be under pressure. I still do not think Nicely is a leader...but I think he will start the season #1. I think the receivers and running backs will be far better than what anyone here expects. Difficult to grade the defense from practice. But...I will go on-record as 7-
72 Roo
I love your enthusiasm and would kill for a 7-5. But my brain over-rules my heart and says 4-8. I hope I'm proven wrong.

Zipmeister
Is this prediction supposed to include the subsequent forfeit win over Tosu or the actual results of the game (or won't it make any difference)? I have us going either 8-3-1 or 3-8-1.
ZachTheZip
Somewhere from 0-12 to 3-9. MAC teams just love to beat themselves with dumb mistakes, and if we're lucky that will happen once or twice to our opponents. of course, with our coaches' playcalling we'll be on the losing end of that more often than the winning side. GP1
My prediction is this. We will start out the season 0-1. I will predict the rest of the season after the Temple game.
Blue & Gold
My prediction is this. We will start out the season 0-1. I will predict the rest of the season after the Temple game. This is the boat I'm in. I have absolutely no idea about what to expect because I have absolutely no feel for this team right now. I am excited about the increased depth on both lines and the athleticism of the WR's & RB. But I also know I was not expecting us to be as down-right-awful as we were last year (but I really don't want to think about that right now). I agree. We'll be better. The only question is, How much better? The other questions center around the rest of the MAC and in particular the division. OU will be good. Toledo will be improved, but they are in another division. Miami could be better than last year after winning the MAC, but we though that after 2005 and look what happened. Too much change at Temple to know what is going to happen. Every season, the MAC is up in the air. We just need to take advantage of our schedule early and get on a roll. When Doug asked for season predictions, I thought he meant for the whole season. I am revising my prediction. After the first half of the first game, I predict we will be 0-0. K92
Put me in the boat with GP1 and B&G. Ask me after the Temple game. I have high hopes that there will be several pleasant surprises with the newcomers. In my eyes, the success of the team depends on guys we've never seen in a game doing great things. To a degree, that is always the story in CFB, but it seems exaggerated for this young Zips team. Beating Can't is the one thing that must happen this year. I am happier at 5-7 beating them than I am at 7-5 losing to them. 5-7 with a win over Can't is my hope. If they can pull this off and look competent and competitive doing it, the expectations will be ratcheted up several notches for 2012. lance99
Let's break it down: To be fair to myself, I looked at a video that I did way back in 2009 and how big of a mess it was.......... I may not count this form then, but here I go....... Ohio State: This game went from a no doubt about it loss to a question mark. With all of the issues they have now, the players will not let this loss to the Zips happen. 0-1 For the home opener and the conference opener, Temple comes to town. As stated on Zipsnation, Temple is miles apart from the other schools even if they are users of the conference. Tough loss 0-2 Then they head on the bus downstate to Cincinnati. Cinci is not going anywhere, but the pressure form the Big East will make them step up for this game. 0-3 The next two games are wins with disclaimers: VMI is a FBS (or whatever you call it) school and will not be a repeat of last year with GW. Eastern Michigan was better last year by default because of more wins. EMU will be once again the worst school in the country and the Zips will win. However if both games are losses, RI, TW and Dr. Proenza will probably be looking for new jobs at the end of the season. Why do I say this? The first two are self explanatory. With Proenza on the other hand, he green lighted this mess and the board will look real hard on how much money they spent and what return they had so far with him in charge. 2-3* Florida International. The Sun Belt is better than the MAC!? 2-4 Ohio: bad team, at least they won the best party school award! 3-4 Central Michigan: I thought about this for over an hour and I finally said that "they are not as god as they once was." 4-4 Miami: The had the biggest turnaround in MAC history and their coach bailed on them. This will be about personnel and the Zips do not have it yet. 4-5 Can't State: Last year I said that the Zips would not win and I was right all the way. It was so bad that that had the first sellout in the Football programs history at the expense of the Zips. The battle of the Wagon Wheel will be no contest. Can't will win. Not because I want the Zips to fail, but as much as I hate to say it, has more talent at the moment. Your last two games are on the road. Buffalo will be a win by default. 5-6 Then on to Kalamazoo. This is not MAC West Basketball. 6-6 There is my predictions with some type of reasoning to all this mess. I just hope that it happens. Back in Akron and drop by Lot

jupitertoo
3 wins = unsuccessful season 4 wins = successful season I predict 4 wins. Zips fans will still hate iCoach but 4 wins gets him a year added to his contract.

Zips fans will still hate iCoach but 4 wins gets him a year added to his contract. 4 wins does NOT get iCoach a contract extension. 4 wins gets him another guaranteed year as coach with the contract he has. Extensions will be granted for fulfilling objectives set forth by the university and athletic department administrations such as winning the MAC and getting to and/or winning bowl games. GP1 could be our coach and we'd still get 3/4 wins every year because it is the MAC. Our facilities alone relative to the rest of the conference should have us getting 6 wins in a down year. How do facilities win games for you when your recruiting classes have only been mediocre at best? And why didn't you have 3 to 4 years last year, given that you played in the Mac? You really underestimate the commitment to football made by other programs. Your own football budget pales in comparison to others.

We need to get players who want to win and not come to UofA with the primary motivator being facilities.
GP1
How do facilities win games for you when your recruiting classes have only been mediocre at best? Bingo! We needed a stadium because the Rubber Bowl was falling down. Other than that, facilities are half of an athletic director's resume. The other half are half truths. Every player wants to win, but they want to do so under the auspices of a tradition-laden, name brand program and if not an option, then they will take a place like ours that has some of the finest facilities of any school in the country. No other MAC school has this advantage. Unless there is a train wreck of a season with a coaching turn-over, a 1-11 season, or a loss to a D-IAA program, the recruits will come just for the facilities. See the past two seasons...that's why the recruits have been mediocre.
GP1
Facilities don't win games. Facilities win recruits who win games. Depends on the primary motivator. Our basketball facilities are average at best yet we have the best team in the league. Our soccer facilities are probably worse than our basketball facilities yet we win national championships. I have yet to see a building make a tackle, complete a pass or go for a long run.
Aaron
I think we'll go 4-8, with wins over VMI, Can't, Buffalo, and a random 'lucky' MAC game during the year. I believe that we could go 8-4, with our only losses being OSU, Cincy, Miami, and Temple. My heart would LOVE to see this happen, but my brain has a hard time believing it.
