johnnyzip84
In spite of what this guy says, there is never a ZERO percent chance for an upset. Here are my top 10 reasons why this game could easily be very competitive: 10) The Zips are the only team currently in the MAC to have ever defeated the red & silver. 9) The red & silver could very well be mad. I'm not a big believer in anger being such a positive emotion in sports. I think it leads to more of a lack of focus and concentration than anything else. 8) No matter what the OSU coaches say, there is no way the players will be taking an in-state team that was 1-11 last year very seriously. 7) Fickell was once an assistant for O-wins. 6) OSU will be "looking ahead" to Toledo. 5) BWags is in year two of the same 4-3 system. He'll be even better than in his first two years. 4) Because of all the suspensions, UA's depth will actually look reasonably close to that of OSU. 3) The Lone Ranger doesn't lose very often. 2) By all accounts, it looks like Fickell will play it rather close to the vest (couldn't resist). This plays into the strength of the UA defense. It's easy to forget that the Zip run defense was actually pretty decent last year (#76 in FBS). They will be even better this year. 1) No matter how hard the red & silver try to ignore the distractions, the almost weekly reports of new problems has made this nearly impossible. The Zips seem to be pretty confident and relaxed for a team supposedly heading into the mouth of a lion. I really like that. Go Zips!!!!! akron football
Come on moore does not lose much, what do you think eastern michigan would do to the powerhouse juco missisppi team? let's just wait and see how his loved teammates act when he fails... Dr Z
I like it JZ!!! Can I add another "10"? 10. Rossi's long hair is a party just waiting to happen. 09. Turnovers. It's obvious from the videos of practice we will be at least +3. 08. Wags076 made that sweet graphic, we have got to able to use that for years. 07. The line on sportsbook.com has dropped from 34 to 33.5, which means tons of money on Zips because everybody knows the obvious. 06. More multiple suspensions tomorrow resulting in Columbus only being able to field 10 on D, and 8 on O. 05. Zips have had more "spirited" practices than Columbus. 04. Better mascot. Check with Capital One. 03. Soccer Rowdies take over Cow-town again and provide Zips with 12th man advantage. 02. Zips convince Columbus that we are in the SEC. 01. My ticket representative told me he has been at practices, and it is a different team this year. (from the bball forum, we know what that means) Best I could muster up during half time of the Kentucky game.

You're sort of a one issue candidate, aren't you? Johnny...you took the words right out of my mouth. Johnny....I like your "staying close to the vest" comment. I think that's been a huge factor in Akron being able to play a great game and stay close the last two times down there. The "Tressel System" has often been criticized for not being able to put people away. And that's always good news for us.

Remember, despite the game results, those folks still think that they are as good as SEC teams.

skip-zip
They're not so fond of this list over here. The dumb A$$es can't even figure out what your reference to "red and silver" means. I love how a few of them are pointing out that their yearly ranking of at least Top-10 is the longest in the country. They won't talk about their atrocious record against the SEC. They won't talk about their horrible record in recent years against Top-5 opponents. They'll never talk about their 60-something SOS ranking. And they won't talk about how they've won only one title in the last 43 years. But, they'll dig deep into college football facts to find one stat that puts them in a favorable light, and march in the streets to proclaim their superiority. Love how you called them "red & silver" it REALLY pisses off OSU fans, which is hilarious. I've noticed something about the comments about the game over there. If you post something like "Go zips!" or "fear the roo" they will respond with a paragraph trashing akron and everything about our university and city. Just shows how low class they all are. mes102
If Youngstown State can give Michigan State problems, why can't we give OSUcks problems? YSU only down 14-6 at half
Lee Adams
Afraid this might be the one game you don't want to play OSU. If Fickell is trying to keep the job,he may not take his foot off the accelerator like Tressel did. They are going to let those QB's throw as much as they can against a poor secondary to get them some reps. They will be able to run as much as they need to. The last thing Fickell wants is to have any doubts creeping in to a team that is already somewhat distracted. The Zips will need some turnovers and very short fields to score enough. With a brand new QB who has never played a down in this offense,a suspect running game its going to be tough to move the ball. Honestly,I'm more interested in the Temple game next week. Blue & Gold
Basically the entire nation is going to be watching this game. I've got Time Warner and the only competing games are: FSN: Miami-O -vs- Mizz ESPN2: Utah State -vs- Auburn BTN: Indiana State -vs- Penn State

I am hoping that we perform well enough on offense to make a good showing. 42-14 would be something I could live with.
