akzipper
Pat Hill is available. I'd contact him. I agree. At least give him an interview. Hill would be a great hire!! 12 bowl games in 16 seasons 17 wins over BCS schools OL background Only drawback is he's from California so I doubt he'd want to move his family to Ohio and he looks like Paul Sr from American Chopper haha
eguins
Link: http://www.vindy.com/news/2011/dec/06/ysu-...ff-teams-ahead/ There are have been rumors over the past two weeks that YSU coach Eric Wolford has applied to be an offensive line coach for new Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and that he was a candidate for the vacant head coaching position at Akron. Both false, Wolford said Monday. “I took the YSU job because it was an opportunity to be a head coach and an opportunity to restore the program and get back to being in the playoffs and winning championships and all the things we set out to do,” said Wolford, who is 9-13 in two years at YSU. “I’m committed to being here.”

ZachTheZip
coachingsearch.com mentions an intriguing name. Akron: The administration has hired Collegiate Sports Associates to help with the search. Keep an eye on Stanford special teams coordinator / recruiting coordinator Brian Polian. The next coach MUST have been, at the very least, an OC or DC in Division 1. No no no!!!!

RACER
winters is making 250k now.i would imagine if he wins the d-2 championship wayne state will try to do whatever it can to keep him.i have no idea what they can pay a coach, but 250 k is getting near what mac coaches make.winters may not even want the job if wayne state wins the d-2 championship.i have to agree with ck that akron may have to shell out alott more cash then tw wants to.then there is still that chance even with more $ winters does not wants the job. g-mann17
Special Teams Coordinator... And recruiting coordinator, he learned from the best during his previous tenure, at Notre Dame.....from 2005-2009. Think about it...
akronad
Polian's father, Bill, is the vice chairman of the Indianapolis Colts and his older brother Chris, serves as the team's general manager. His younger brother Dennis also works in player personnel with the NFL. I thought the last name sounded familiar. No way do I want any part of this guy. Take him off the radar!!!!!!!!!!! ZachTheZip
About Polian and Ianello working together at Notre Dame, Rivals gives you a direct comparison between the two. You can compare the recruits each brought in when working under the exact same circumstances. It's rare that you can make a direct comparison like that. Dr Z
This story says new UAB HC Garrick McGee was "part of the coaching search at Akron".Me too, I searched in the fall of 2010/2011 and came up empty.

Dr Z
Joe Moorhead is interviewing for the Fordham job today. Are we really competing with Fordham for football coaches now?Who interviewed Ianello for a head coaching job before Akron did, who interviewed Brookhart for a head coaching job before Akron did? Who is interviewing Winters? I would say if we hire somebody that was considered for a HC job, YouTube is taking a step.

Who is interviewing Winters? I would say if we hire somebody that was considered for a HC job, YouTube is taking a step. Of course, no one considered or interviewed either JD or Ianello. Why would they? Akron is just like the Indians and Browns, always trying to "out-think" themselves in trades, free agent signings and coaching/managerial hires, always believing they "know better than everyone else," instead of just making the sure-fire moves. Really gets old.
