Does anyone want to hear Wistricil speak?
I don't, I just want to hear the new coach tell me he has his work cut out for him, but he will work tirelessly to make the alumni proud of Akron football.

Its a good technique to attempt to get more followers on Twitter and Facebook.
Let us know how many more followers they get because of this announcement, I'm curious.

Zips Athletics ..... will also provide information regarding an open reception to meet-and-greet the coach for all donors, season ticketholders, fans, University faculty and staff, and students.

Can't recall if they had a similar meet-and-greet with Ianello?

Definitely not. I-coaches' agent approached a mutual friend of mine, who asked me to put together a list of Zips fans who would be interested in meeting I-coach. We suggested a cocktail hour meeting at a local country club that we would personally pay to host. The same agent arranged a similar event for his other client who had just accepted a new position(Brian Kelly). The agent thought it was a great idea, I-coach, not so much. After waiting weeks for an answer, we were told thanks, but no thanks. He couldn't even be bothered to give up an hour or so of his precious time to get acquainted with the loyal fans.

I would think UA would be in charge of determining whether or not there should be a meet-and-greet with a new head coach, and that it would not be the coach's decision.

If Ianello in fact personally rejected having a meet-and-greet, then shame on him and also shame on UA for not requiring him to do it.

The fact that UA has announced a meet-and-greet even before the new coach has been announced is a positive sign.

This is the way they need to handle these situations in the future if they are at all interested in building an enthusiastic fan base.

The Canton Rep doesn't like this idea. Then again, they never liked anything to do with UA because we don't recruit exclusively from Stark County's pool of leftover DII-worthy high school players.

Edit: JZ84 beat me to the punch. Really, though, is anyone shocked that the Suppository has to tear down any attempt at putting a positive spin on the coach search?

Hey, what's this? Canton is making fun of UA again.

Silly article, borderline ignorant: "Akron needs to hire a coach fans are going to WANT to follow on Twitter."-- Todd Porter from CantonRep.com. I don't WANT to follow any coach on Twitter, the new coach better not be wasting his time Twittering! If this job is done right, he won't have time for BS twitters, leave that to people with nothing to do like Alyssa Milano and James Harrison. Akron needs to hire a coach fans WANT to go see because he win games not because of some learn nothing tweet! Todd needs to write articles that make people WANT to click on them. I do not.
