K92
I am not buying any of this PW was Wistrcill's guy from the beginning bullshit. Winters was the coach of last resort. Narduzzi would have been hired in a New York minute if he wanted the job. If you think the DC at Michigan State can't get a better job than this one you are totally 100 percent delusional. g-mann17
Another day another Tom Wistrcill botch job. Been to Detroit in the last 5 years? Shithole to the nth degree. Akron native, former Zips player and OC would rather stay at a D-II school in the armpit of America than to come home and coach his alma mater. Any more questions? This is the worst job in the country. Fire Wistrcill now If its the worst job in the country why would he want it? Thanks for making my point for me. If a guy with love for the place doesn't want the job, who in the f does? I didn't make your f-ing point. I'm tired of attitudes like yours. Tired of all this nonsense, tired of bs like you and zach and skip with your smarmy nonsense. You sit there and bash Detroit like its some s-hole. They have more money in that one city then the entire state of Ohio. Then you bash the job here. Bash, bash, bash, that is all anyone does on this stupid @$$ site. You ask people to be proactive and they bash, you ask people to try and be positive, nah I would rather be negative it makes me feel better if things go bad cause then at least I can say I was right. You contradicted yourself in your post moron. "How dare he not take this job that I think is better than Detroit but still the worst in the country?" He has an attachment to the kids and people there, it was going to take more than a little bit more money to come here anyway. Did TW botch this whole thing, quite possibly. You can say all you want that TW is an awful person to work for. But I am tire of this f-ing bs that Akron is the worst job in the country just because that bald idiot can't hire someone. ZipRoo
Where are WNN and InTheZone? I thought they said Winters would die to have the Akron job. Is their info flawed? Or did they just not take into account that Winters would have to see TW's mug in the flesh before he signed the contract. BTW, I've gotta hand it to Winters big-time. Anyone who can tell TW to take his job and shove it after being dissed for the clown and his down-the-pants clipboard, frankly, is okay in my book. Score one for the Good Guys. g-mann17
Well, why would he have wanted to coach at Wayne State? The first time? Cause it was his first HC offer and a friend offered him the job. Now? Because its his baby, he built it, he controls it.
Lance1969
Hats off to Coach Winters, played the game to the end. Let me get a pay raise, contract extension and less pressure at a D2 school. May not liked what he did but the execution was perfect! K92
Ive read plenty of your posts g-mann. Agreed with most of em. You must not have read many of mine because a basher I am not. I love my University but the football program has devolved into something that no one wants to be a part of. Reality. Try it. This board is so delusional. I am extremely upset with this turn of events and I am venting. Sorry to ruin your day g-mann. Not my intention.
akronad
Not only is Rob Fournier a good AD, it seems as if he is a better business man. I seems as if both Paul and Rob have told Akron to take it and shove it.

You are definitely NOT a basher, flame thrower or negative sarcasm. I think G-Mann is just misreading and overly sensitive, You both are 2 of the guys I respect most. Shitty day...I am worried more to come. I have little patience for the bashers, flame throwers and negative sarcasm right now. zippy5
The amount of arrogance displayed by Wistrcill is astounding. They freaking drove to Detroit for this. That tells me that they thought it was in the bag. What? What is wrong with driving to Detroit to talk to a candidate? You wouldn't be impressed if someone drove to your house for an interview instead of flying to see them? I don't agree with everything TW does but get real. He's either really, really happy at WSU or he thinks he can get a better job in the next few years (my guess is he's really happy and good for him) This Detroit Free Press story confirms that it's the latter. PW specifically cites Kehres as someone he'd like to emulate. It's hard to argue against that logic. He's probably getting close to $300K a year now, the GLIAC is getting noticeably weaker (Malone and Walsh soon to join), and he already has great recruiting pipelines in Michigan and Ohio. Besides, nobody knows better than Paul does what persistent losing can do to a person. Just looks what it's done to almost every football fan on this board. I look for him to win a D-II title or two before all is said and done. And I'll root for him to accomplish that, regardless of what happened today. K92
I should have said worst FBS job in the country as judged by prospective coaches. I'm pretty sure the UA gig is better than Rittman H.S. But what do I know? I am with you JZ84. I wish PW much success. I was just hoping the success would be with the Zips. Big Zip
I'm not sure I wish PW any success if he was offered the job and turned it down....I'm not sure I care if he wins another game. If you aren't with me you are against me and it sound like PW is basically saying he's against me now. Those of you who want to wish Ben Speas well -- I'm not sure what is wrong with you either. He decided he had enough of Akron and left us. Say what you will about this job and this University it is light years a head of the pile of crap city and campus that Wayne State is on. Time to move on. If TW is going to remain the AD he needs to knock this one out of the park. If he doesn't this will be he end of his career as an FBS AD. He will still get his chances at lower levels...hell Helsel is an AD at some backwater school.

To Ben Speas defense, it might not have been much of a choice for him considering it was a mutual agreement. This whole Paul Winters thing is a big let down. I hope Akron destroys Youngstown State tonight. That would help make me forget about all of this.

I doubt Paul did this as a malicious slight to UA. We have to move on now.
