Bobby Bowden gave the bball team a nice shout out on facebook/twitter:

Bobby Bowden

"Congratulations to the Akron Zips Men's basketball team on their great come from behind win tonight over Bowling Green! Down by 13 with about 15 mins left, and kept playing hard. Great job Coach Dambrot."

We hear Caleb Porter over and over again say we are going to play our game. He talks about forcing the other team to try to beat us at our game. It doesn't seem we do that in basketball. KD seems to adjust his game to how the opponent has decided to play Akron. Watching Zeke chase a 7 footer out around the three point line seems to make absolutely no sense to me, but KD has forgotten more basketball than I've ever learned. I'd love to see this question posed to him on Monday to hear what he says about it.

Harney was averaging 20 minutes per game prior to his 5-game suspension. Knowing the way KD operates, any player who's suspended has to earn his PT back.

In his first game back, Harney played 9 minutes against Marshall, followed by 10 minutes against Miami. Tonight, Harney played 14 minutes.

More importantly tonight, KD trusted him enough to sub him in with 2 minutes left and the Zips down by 3. Harney responded by hitting a critical 3-pointer to tie the game.

And most important of all, KD subbed Harney in with 9 seconds left in the game and the Zips trailing by 1. Harney responded by hitting the game winner with 1 second left.

Harney will be back to 20 minutes or more per game before too many more games, and so will Tree.

I would like to see him start sometime this season, just to see how it works out. We seem to be having trouble starting games strong. It's a bit frustrating to see them starting a game down 12-3 to a weak BG team like today.

Harney led the team tonight with 12 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the field, though he did miss 3 of 4 free throws.

He was tied for second on the team in rebounds with 4, and had 2 assists and a steal against 1 turnover.

In the 33 minutes he's played in 3 games since returning to action, Harney has scored 33 points and has hit 12 of 17 from the field.

Weak? Wasn't BG something like 6-1 at home, coming off a win vs. OU. Didn't they beat Temple this season? The same Temple that beat Duke?

It really surprises me how many people are poo-pooing a 2-0 start to MAC play, winning back-to-back on the road.

We've won 7 of our last 8 games. The lone loss being a buzzer-beater to VCU.

Things could be worse.

KD does A LOT that I don't understand. But I'm like you in that I have to remind myself that he's forgotten more about the game of basketball than I'll ever know.

Also, it's not just KD, per se. There is an entire coaching staff who have sit-down meetings to formulate strategy. So obviously they're all on the same page? Either that, or KD rules with an iron fist and the assistants just do a good job of biting their lips.

Is it just me, or is Harney a better ball handler than Q?

Who would you rather have bring the ball up the court, Harney or Q?

Who would you rather see drive to the basket, Harney or Q?

Who would you rather see take the last shot, Harney or Q?

I think I'm with Harney on all three accounts.

Q is great, but Harney is even greater!

Hr is 6'7 and plays like a guard at times.vhow nicevit is to have a guy thst dize who is a bb player, not just a guyvthat size playing bb.

Q is a better ball handler--he just gets sloppy sometimes. On the other two, flip a coin--both are great. One note should be that when driving you stand to get fouled, and I'd rather have Q on the line than Harney. Best of both worlds is have them both in and wreak havoc.

+1

When Q is handling the ball, he generally has a guard defending him. Not so with Harney.
