UCF game sold out?

I've heard some rumblings that tickets for the season opener have already sold out, nearly two weeks in advance. I find this very hard to believe, but that might just be my Ianello-bred pessimism speaking. We do have a beautiful stadium, recognizable coaches, and are playing on college football's opening day. Maybe it really is possible. Or maybe I'm just hearing bad information.

I can not confirm or deny, just say that don't take anything you read on facebook/twitter as fact. Usually with sellouts, in the past, GoZips.com is very quick to release a statement. We also would hear about the bracelets for student attendance. I just think there would be more "reports" if something like this were to happen and I'm really not expecting more than 20k...

It really doesn't matter what day or time. If the game sold out, somebody somewhere within the Athletic Department would know about it immediately. Also I agree we would have definitely gotten a warning that only a few thousand remained. Especially for people like me who have yet to purchase tickets. Unless someone this evening at 10 decided to buy 20,000 tickets for himself haha. But like I said, I'm not denying it. It just seems very, very unlikely.

I remember when the first game at InfoCision sold out, I believe a week before we got a warning or something like that. Definitely not almost two weeks before.

Ticketmaster found 12 family packs available for the game. Not a wise rumor to start because it could cause people that haven't purchased tickets yet to reconsider, fearing they we're too late?

UA has been known to use a scarcity marketing strategy in the past, they did it with me the entire summer trying to get me to renew. They posted several times about the scarcity for the soccer camps, and posted when they were actually sold out.

If the game was close to being sold out, we would have seen a post mentioning the scarcity.

It would be a good rumor to start if we were to say that only 5000 were left. Create some buzz...

Do we know how accurate Ticketmaster is? Because if you zoom in you can actually see dots showing the seats available. If it's accurate I actually don't see many reserved seats left. Maybe a few hundred? And over $100 for Club seats? that's a bit much

Wish that were true... But with 11+ days left -- it surely could happen.

Go Zips! Beat UCF!

Sell out, schmell out. I don't really care right now.

I just got done watching a replay of the 2001 Clemson-GT game on ESPN classic. What a game!! Tommy Bowden's Tigers win an OT thriller over George O'Leary's Yellow Jackets/Engineers/Rambling Wreck. Can his brother repeat the magic versus the resume padder in 2012?

Then I guess we can pull the "get your dadgum tickets today" messages from the billboards, radio, and newspapers ??

Not a chance. With 10 days left, I'm saying that it would be amazing if we are even at 10k right now, with season tickets and the few people who would have gone out and purchased a single game ticket for UCF, combined.

Even in the old Acme/Zip days, it took people lining up at the gates right before gametime to get us near that 25-30K level.

No way this game sells out. TB has a name but not THAT big or a name in NE Ohio. Now if they ran a promotion (Meet Jim Tressel at Infocision Staidum) they would be yelling "OH-IO" as 20,000 sheep mindlessly flock to the stadium thinking OSU is playing an exhibition game.

On another note, I don't know much about UCF, and given the past two years, I am just hoping to see some entertaining football. The last two years was the most boring football I have ever seen in my life. Starting to get excited!

I don't want to be a downer, but does anyone remember the attendance last year? I know, Terry Bowden is a name, blah blah blah, but he isn't big enough to draw 10,000 more people to this game than last year's average.

Announced attendance: 18,000.

Real "in the seats" attendance: 7,500.

Sounds about right to me. I was going to say roughly 10,000 actual people there.
