bigzipguy
Tenn coach feels like he has to pour it on to make the game look like it was predicted to be. Hope the VOLS get crushed the rest of the way!!!!!!!!!!
UAZipster0305
I can't stand this negativity...I'll get back on this site tomorrow...Later everyone Tonight has been the most fun I've had watching Akron Football since the home opener in 2009 vs Morgan State... Amen. Given where we were last year, did anyone expect us to be within a TD of the tie/lead in the forth quarter? The team had an overall great performance and didn't give up. I think we just ran out of gas. The INT's hurt, and the corresponding throws could have been better/smarter, but DW is likely playing injured and he is light years better than the starting QB I was expecting. I watched a few minutes of both NIU and Miami today, and I have to say, I think we may be competitive for the MAC East this year. That is amazing! MAC East title or not, Zips football is fun to watch again.
GoZips88
I hope Zach D'Orazio is OK. Congrats Akron on a very nice effort in Knoxville. Can't wait for MAC play to begin next Saturday vs. Miami. Go Zips!!!
zipsfan33
Football is indeed exciting again! I am so pumped up about the way TB has come in and made these young men feel like they can after what they suffered through the last 3+ years. What a coach! zestycoyote
I have to commend the Akron players for their effort tonight. Williams looked stiff out there, but that can happen when you're playing a defense with a few future NFLers. I have to wonder if a healthy QB might have made a bit of a difference. Too bad about the final score, though, as the student body will see it as a blowout. The team was really in the game until the last 7-8 minutes. The most important thing to remember: most of these players are Ianello's guys. Think about the possibilities once Bowden has a few of his own recruiting classes on the field... Dave in Green
Here's the bottom line for me: For 3 1/2 quarters, a long-suffering little team from Nowheresville in Rustbeltland stressed out a pedigreed, entitled, big-budget, semi-pro team that was supposed to be playing subs from the beginning of the first half to keep the score from exceeding 100-0. The Zips lost late in a game that the naysayers said they'd never be in from the first play of the game. If you call yourself a Zips fan and you only see the negative side of this game, then you darn well should make an appointment with your shrink and begin learning WTF is wrong with your head. But that's just me.
AKSportsFan
Played tough tonight. DW13 was not comfortable at all sailing pass after pass. They kept it close till the very end. Very proud of my ZIPS!!! The future is certainly bright!

I've never blocked someone on here, but you're close. 35 point underdogs with a 3q lead? 28 point underdogs last week losing by a fg in OT? Did you not watch anything the last two years? There's talent here, albeit thin. We can make noise in the mediocre mac east. These guys believe and so do I.
Buckzip
For over 3 quarters Akron was in this game. That interception at the endzone killed us. Of course that came after Tyler Williams fell down for a huge loss. Then the bad reversal on the fumble did us in. I don't know if it was a fumble or not, but it was certainly inconclusive and there is no way that can be reversed either way. I was impressed that our lines held their own against a much faster and bigger line. Once Bowden gets his players in here this team will win a lot of games. RootforRoo44
All I have to say is that I'm SOLD on Terry Bowden and his vision. Good Lord are we FUN to watch! I cannot wait for Zips football next Saturday. (I don't think I've said those words since 2008.) #BelieveDadgummit
ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net
Zips football is fun to watch again! Bam! I think they're going to win a few MAC games and reward the fans. Good times ahead people.

Blue & Gold
Excellent game last night. We did ourselves proud. Ianello's 2011 halftime score vs. Cincy: 0 - 49. Coach Bowden's 2012 halftime score vs. Tennessee: 23 - 23 The Zips are on the rise.

zen
"We're making some strides, but we need to have W's" Not for me Terry. Not this year. You've already made HUGE strides. Last year the Zips would have been down to Tennessee 35 points in the first quarter. You guys should play to win. Of course. Wins will be fun when they come. My bet is that those kids who were around last year or the previous two years are already having fun with the higher level of play before the final whistle has even been blown. The final scoreboard fun will come when it comes.
mes102
I had a lot of fun watching last night. The only part that sickened me, is that people that didn't watch the game, will see the final score, and think Tennessee blew us out, and we scored some garbage points to make it look somewhat close... If DW didn't throw that INT on 1st possession of 2nd half, the outcome could of been different...momentum just changed from there on... It's doesn't matter that they have played 4 bad teams, and us only 1. People only care about records... The team Ohio played yesterday (without their starting QB) is ranked nearly 100 places higher than Morgan State. Are you saying that FIU is better than Marshall? Are you saying that the Tennessee team we saw last night - which was wholly unimpressive - is much better than a Penn State team that you earlier said wouldn't win a game - and has now won two straight? Remember that Penn State doesn't lose its schollies until next year; they lost nine players this year, four of whom were starters. Looks like a lot of people don't agree with you, including Sports Illustrated, which is featuring Ohio in this week's issue. Get over your jealousy and focus on the Zips, who do seem to be making strides. I think they can beat Miami based on what I've seen out of the Redhawks thus far. ctmjbowes@sbcglobal.net
As we watch and love the seeming rise of the UA football team I find it incredibly annoying that there are at least two posters who take every opportunity, on a Zips board, to press the case for a different MAC program. It seems every thread is peppered with flies in the ointment. This is not a Party U/Bobkitty board.

jupitertoo
+1,000,000 Some Akron fans have taken on the characteristics of Marshall fans, who must denigrate other teams to feel better about themselves. I have respect for other programs that have accomplished important things. It's good for the conference.
