NCAA Question, Thanksgivings past

Recommended Posts

What year was our match with Northwestern moved to Evanston?

Accentuate the positive.

Which year was the epic 2OT Golden Goal victory over OSU at St. V-M field, in the snow?

2008, day before Thanksgiving.

Well, then we got buggered by the NCAA.

No.

The afore mentioned victory over OSU is the most significant Zips Thanksgiving ever.

No way man. I love Akron Soccer, but that win over Can't was HUGE. And let's be real, a MAC championship and a bowl appearance in football is equal to anything short of a College Cup appearance in soccer. And i'm sure there are several people on here that would say it's even better than WINNING a national championship in soccer.

I am real f***ing real, Mike.

If that is how you feel about things, take it to a different forum. We have a forum for that.

It seems that if your point is that Football is universally more important than Soccer, that point would most appropriately be made on the Football forum. Recall that the discussion, the title of the thread, was originally about a specific Soccer date in 2008. Our less than esteemed moderator then attempted to redirect the discussion to another sport (again), at which I took exception.

I am certain there are those who think Football MAC trumps Soccer National. The difference between them and you is few of those people contribute to the Soccer forum.

Can we please stop with the stupid comparisons between Football and Soccer? The comparisons are stupid; not the posters on this board. It is what it is. I'd like to see us doing well in both sports. We're not going to get there with these pointless comparisons. Those who don't like soccer should refrain from posting in this forum just as I realized it was unproductive for me to post negative items in the Football forum (where I took out my frustrations during our previous Football Coach's tenure). Something that's easy to forget in cyberspace is that there are real people behind these posts and real athletes who play for the Zips. Posts like those I'm reading here dishonor us all.

For me personally, I think today's match is the most important Thanksgiving weekend game in Zips history. The best Zips Head Coach ever (IMHO) may be coaching a game for the last time on our campus. I wish all Zips fans would show up today and show him and our team the support and respect they deserve.

I should have also mentioned 4 of the most successful Zips seniors may be playing in their last game on our campus today, also. I hope Zipsnation shows up in large numbers to give them our support and show them our gratitude. GO ZIPS!
