johnnyzip84
I bet anyone that took the "lock" was sweating that one out. Ha. It's a good thing I only look at the line for "amusement". It may have been ugly, but it's the worst loss EMU has suffered at home this year. Don't get me wrong, there is PLENTY to work on, but I'd rather learn lessons this way than with painful losses. Go Zips!!! Let's get after the Falcons on Saturday before a FULL HOUSE in the JAMMED JAR!

bUAkronG
Cover! Cover! Cover! not sure what your spread was but the Zips didn't cover the 9 points I saw. Ugly game but honestly I didn't see the Zips playing that bad. Careless, but not bad. A lot of Abreu's turnovers were due to his trying to be too flashy. phil
I think we are going to be seeing a lot of zone, We just cannot seem to penetrate. Our bigs are inside and everyone else is outside with pressure. The zone forces the long pass and it turns into a turnover. Alex had 10 or more turnovers. Bentacourt had at least 2 in about 6 minutes of play. Harney and Walsh came up with some big 3 s at the end of the game. Our foul shooting was pretty poor again. We have to play better than this. This team needs a spark.

MontrealExposloveZippy
The stream was very solid as well, kudos to EMU for that

johnnyzip84
I never saw him come in or mentioned KD was pretty open this week about Chauncey once again dealing with injuries, which seem to have gotten worse as evidenced by his floor movement in past games. Maybe they decided to rest him a while, which I think is the way to go. Maybe he'll be able to bounce back come tourney time when they most need him? Dave in Green
The usual combination of good and bad. Good shooting percentage, rebounding and assists. Bad turnovers. They're not a killer team that goes all out all the time. They're college kids having as much fun as they can, and putting in enough effort to win 16 games in a row. If they can rise to the level required to win each game one at a time, I can't criticize them as long as they own the longest winning streak in the country. I'll leave that to Coach Dambrot. Every starter shot at least 50%. All of the turnovers is what made this game even close.

All the percentages and comparisons were very good, except the 20 turnovers. 10 turnovers we win in a blowout.

Dave in Green
Rico almost had a double-double -- 9 assists and 9 turnovers.
phil
Tree had a good game and is probably one of the better passers on the team and helps against the zone.
MDZip
Frenchy just said that by Akron winning this game every team but Ohio has been eliminated from winning the East, which also means the only team that could knock the Zips out of a top two seed is WMU and we would have to lose all of our remaining games and they would have to win all of theirs. Toledo is in the same spot but are ineligible for the tournament. Think we can count on a top two seed.

MDZip
WMU lost again tonight at BGSU. Did Frenchy know this when he made the comment? He was only talking about the East. But with WMU and Toledo dropping to 7-4, that's what the case is with the West. If either would finish tied with the Zips, the Zips would win the head to head tiebreaker. The worst the Zips could be is 11-5. WMU would have to finish 12-4 to take a seed from them.
Dave in Green
Associated Press YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Brian Walsh scored 16 points, Nick Harney added 14 and Akron extended the nation's longest winning streak to 16 games with a 70-62 victory over Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night. johnnyzip84
Another way of looking at tonight's game is that it was a step, albeit a small one, in the right direction following the CMU and Miami contests. Harney had his first productive outputs in a few games. I think Alex can clean up the turnovers, some of which EMU's size and style were at least partially responsible for. I've been concerned about this game for some time, so I'm glad it's over and the Zips are done with the West. You really have to wonder if the streak itself is starting to weigh on the players a little. They'd have to be robots for that not to be the case to some degree. zippy5
Reading this thread you'd think we lost sixteen in a row! Good Lord, lighten up and enjoy it. Go Zips! On to the next one.
RACER
i know akron does not look very good at times. if you would have told me that diggs would be gone, and gilliam is out for most of the mac season.no way this team should have won 16 in a row.we lost a starter, and our first guy off the bench.take two of ohio -top six players out of the lineup. how good do you think they would be?not very good.yet we still beat them.kd does not get alott of credit for getting some of the young guys ready to play.people need to realize we have four freshman that see alott of pt. BirdZip
A lot of Abreu's turnovers were due to his trying to be too flashy. That was my takeaway, too. It seems maybe he is believing himself a little too much about winning a National Championship. Too many fancy passes when a standard pass would do. Too many forced passes when it clearly wasn't there. Oh, and don't throw an inbound pass thirty feet away from everyone on your team. I also wasn't very impressed with how we "attacked" the defense. I don't remember a lot of penetration and the passing was sluggish and predictable. My wife sat down and wathced the game with me for the first time this year. About 5 minutes in she asked herself why she was watching this. After another 5 minutes, she declared it unwatchable and left. I was impressed with EMU's defense, though. I thought they did a great job putting pressure out on the perimeter and disrupting us before we could get anything going. All in all, though, if you're going to have a time when you're playing poorly, do it when you're playing CMU, Miami and EMU. Two Top 25 teams lost last night to unranked teams and a few more barely squeaked by. The Zips are still streaking.
