UAZip0510
The Zips will certainly miss Zeke Marshall next season. He is one of the greatest defensive big men in conference history. The good news is the Zips have another young, up-and-coming center waiting to step in. Which leads me to this question: How good can Pat Forsythe be? First, let's look at Forsythe's statistics so far this season: 12.9 MPG, 4.4 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 1.0 BPG, .518 FG% Now let's look at Zeke's first season at UA: 16.8 MPG, 5.1 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 1.7 BPG, .471 FG% Pretty comparable numbers overall. Zeke had lofty expectations placed on his shoulders that Forsythe doesn't have, but Forsythe will take on these expectations in 2013-2014. From what I've seen, I think Forsythe will end up a far more polished player on offense. However, while I do see him becoming a very good defender, I don't think he has the ability to dominate a game defensively that Zeke has. While Forsythe's career will naturally get compared to Zeke's in the long-run, they are two very different players. Thoughts on Forsythe, his potential, and what kind of impact he can make next year and beyond?
tpsjugglerdude
I think when it is all said and done, Pat will go down as #2 in the MAC in blocks.
akronzips71
Based on what I have observed (NOT in person): He seems to be somewhat less athletic than Zeke, and does not jump as high. He does not have as much wingspan. However, he is much more aggressive to the basket than Zeke was as a freshman. He is not blocking out effectively yet, but he is a big body, as compared to Zeke who was described as "long and thin". I think as a Junior (third year player) he will be a monster in the middle. He may get less blocks, but I think he will score way more points. I think down the line he will also be less prone to having the ball taken away under the hoop, as Zeke as never been a great ball handler. All of which is NOT a knock on Zeke in any way shape or form. Just my take on where Pat is now, as compared to where Zeke was as a first year player. CincyZip
I think comparing Pat Forsythe to Zeke Marshall is setting the dude up to fail. He is not Zeke, and at no fault of his own. He should have an above average career and anything more is gravy.
K92
Watching Pat's footwork in the paint makes me believe he has a very high ceiling as a scorer. His touch under the basket will improve in time & a lot of bigs never develop the feet he has right now.
Hilltopper
It will be really beneficial for Pat, if Isaiah Johnson is able to contribute some meaningful minutes next season. Just like this season for Zeke, he can be more aggressive without having to worry about fouling out.

He consistently outmaneuvers defenders in order to get great looks, he just needs to get better at finishing.
clarkwgriswold
Forsythe will never be the defensive presence that Zeke is, but his offensive skill set is already superior to Zeke's.
odhgibo
Apples, oranges, and all that. I'm hoping that Forsythe makes up in rebounding what he can't match in shot blocking. I hoping that this is the type of stat line we see in a couple years: 12 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 assists. If so, we'll all be continuing the debate about whether 45 is too low of a ranking for the Zips.
dboze
Forsythe will never be the defensive presence that Zeke is, but his offensive skill set is already superior to Zeke's. Pat realistically has one move and cannot go to his right. Also cannot shoot beyond 10 feet. He will develop these offensive skills just like Zeke did and will become a top center in the MAC. Blue & Gold
I like that Pat is 6'11" and muscular. He's athletic & aggressive & confident. He's going to be a beast and though won't block shots like Zeke (or get into opponents heads - which is huge - "Game Changer") he should be an automatic double-double machine. He's going to be the top C in the MAC for the next 3 years.
