johnnyzip84
While it's not exclusively about MAC talent, this Florida Gator blog discusses how both Bortles and Mack managed to slip past the staffs at UF, FSU and Miami even though they're both Floridians. There's also a mention of CJ Mizell back when he was an FSU recruit.

He reminded me of Darren Sproles (didn't he also wear #43 in his time at SD?), but with more power. The loss of Oliver and Mack are big reasons why I'm not fearing U@B so much this year. Dr Z
He is doing so good it got the coach fired.I would venture to guess hundreds of coaches have been dismissed from the job with talented players on their team. Like I wrote in the beginning of this thread: "The intention of this thread is to follow this years players in the MAC that may have the chance to play in the NFL. The thread will also inform ZN members of the top talent to watch as the season progresses. I was wondering if there are other ZN members that enjoy following and would enjoy posting updates throughout the season."I thought maybe fans of the MAC might like to know of Taylor's success since we play Buffalo November 11th. Dr Z
Too bad the rest of the MAC players in Antonio Brown, Ben, and Dri Archer didn't You forgot Harrison, Mitchell, and Suisham. All played in the Mac and had just as bad of a day as the other three. Gradkowski holds a clipboard, and Umass nicknamed "Baby-Gronk", Blanchflower is on the practice squad. All in all, the Steelers have NINE Mac players on their roster. Most will make it through the rebuild. Harrison will retire again. Moore will not dress when when younger talent takes over eventually. Dri could become a casualty if their OC becomes collateral damage. Still my favorite Mac media photo of all time. Cody may give AB a run for his money next year. ESPN researchers provided talking-head-Tirico with lots of Mac notes last night. He mentioned the Mac multiple times and even read off his notes how JJ Watt played at Central Michigan with Antonio Brown. Too bad the Mac didn't get a dollar for every time someone said "JJ Watt" on ESPN for six hours last night. Players to watch at Ball State: CB #5 Eric Patterson, and RB #32 Jahwan Edwards.Just realized former Ball Stater Willie Snead is on the Panthers practice squad. He was cut by the Browns earlier this year. EA, writes a small blurb about Ken+ QB Colin Reardon gaining respect.

UB fires football coach Jeff QuinnStill think it was Anthone Taylor that got the coach fired? I saw a hard runner with a low pad level that keeps his legs moving and doesn't give up on any plays. 32 attempts last night. That's a grinder I would take on my team. BTW, He is 13th in the nation in rushing yards now.

Dr Z
This will go down in nobody's record book other than mine. Yesterday in the NFL two players (Josh Cribbs and Julian Edelman) from the same MAC team scored special teams touchdowns only to have penalties erase BOTH. This happened at the same time. I watch three and sometimes four NFL games at once on Sunday's, and I happen to see both at the same time. This has never happened in the history of football...as far as I know. Then in the third quarter, Edelman had a 74-yard punt return for a touchdown nullified early on by an illegal block by Patrick Chung. The play was nullified because Gordy was called for unnecessary roughness on the play. “You could kind of see the legs, a little bit wobbly, but good enough to take one to the house,” coach Chuck Pagano said. “It was unfortunate that we had the call on the play that we got. It was good. It was good energy and it was good for our return game. I'm glad we've got Cribbsy on our team.

MDZip
And of playoff games I've seen it seems like every team has at least one MAC player starting. In the one just completed Ravens had a cornerback from NIU and the Patriots had a defensive lineman from Ohio + Julian Edelman.
Balsy
The MAC has some really good players that are scattered around the NFL. Hopefully one day soon we'll start to see a few Akron players scattered about again. Are there any graduating seniors who might wind up on NFL teams this year? There are 66 MAC players in the NFL, it's not like there is just a "handful." The big10 has 235 and conference USA has 85 just for reference. Every year there are MAC players drafted in the NFL, this year will be no different. Last year the MAC had 2 first rounders, and 8 players overall drafted. MAC players also get signed as undrafted players and make the team as Oliver did this year with SD.

That's about 2 per team...53 starting players plus 10 player practice squads. That means MAC players represent like 3.2% of all NFL players. But we're arguing semantics so it's not all that important.
Dr Z
That means MAC players represent like 3.2% of all NFL players. And the SEC only represents 16 percent of all NFL players. Which is the most. I believe there are eleven MAC players left on the four NFL playoff team's active rosters.
