While I hate to see any talent leave the MAC, this may say a little about the strength of the league.

The move to Auburn will present a lot of potential intrigue for fans of the Mid-American Conference, as Gehrig Dieter, the Bowling Green receiver that paired with Roger Lewis to lead the Falcons offense the last two seasons, transferred to Alabama as a graduate student shortly after the season concluded. This means a potential Iron Bowl matchup for the two players, if the cards play themselves right.

I don't know if anyone caught it, but SiriusXM has been doing their "camp tour".  In the Alabama installment they talked to Gehrig Dieter.  Great interview.  One of the things they talked about was the transition to the simple 20 play, no playbook offense of Dino Babers to the complex, multiple reads on every play, 200 page playbook of Lane Kiffin.  If you can catch a replay, it's worth a listen.

Easy to find, just type "Gehrig Dieter" in the search field. It sure will be interesting to see how he does. Will definitely benefit him learning a playbook if he wants to play in the NFL.

Despite being a fifth-round pick, WR Tajae Sharpe has been making noise in Titans camp from day one, and it’s been common knowledge that he’s looked like a starter for some time now. He may end up doing even more than that, and could be the team’s top target, even with the return of Kendall Wright. Sharpe runs crisp routes, seems to always be in the right place, and QB Marcus Mariota has been singing praises about his ability to adjust and read the game as plays unfold. He clearly has huge confidence in Sharpe already, and it shows on the field. This week, the former UMass standout caught all six passes thrown his way for 68 yards, showed he could make tough catches, and was simply in the right place at the right time. The Titan could have a huge rookie season. source

Top Ten Rookies Through NFL Week 1

5. Tajae Sharpe, WR, Titans -- Tajae Sharpe’s meteoric rise from fifth-round pick to Marcus Mariota’s favorite target is one of the more astounding storylines of the early 2016 season. Against the Vikings, he led the Titans in targets (11), receptions (seven), and yards (76)—quite the start for the 15th receiver off the board last April.

The most pivotal/controversial play in last night's Divisional Championship game involved two players from the MAC.

I'm not going to post the Facebook link here because of the language, but if you like, you can look up a video by another MAC player (AB). He takes you inside last nights locker room for seventeen minutes, and tells all the other schools they made a mistake by not recruiting him. I like when players from the MAC take that attitude into the NFL. Other MAC players in the video too. ESPN staff writer focuses on other things from the video. Lots of MACtion in that game.

Love James Harrison!

Akron Coventry, baby!

He always had talent but at some point he became a beast that won't be outworked, he also is a much better person, He is very close with a coach who has been around the Coventry community since the mid 90's when Coach Mo came from Orrville.  He was able to stay on staff after Mo and a few coaches but after one of the coach changes was not picked up and Coventry and Harrison don't have a good relationship.  He is Coventry's claim to fame and would be great if they could work together in the future.  Coventry has a great new school and the football complex in the back looks terrible.  Would be great for Community if they could work the differences out and get a stadium called James Harrison Stadium

After posting this I thought because of my screen name some are going to assume I might have ties to Burkhart, no ties, I know him from coaching in the youth in Coventry for years and he will be the second on the current roster from Coventry I have coached over the years and their may be a possibility of Sibley next year, he has the ability to play D1 as well and was just showing my support for Coventry and University of Akron
