ziptrumpet87 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 No. No more "directional" universities. Quote
Zipgrad01 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 No. No more "directional" universities. I agree, especially directional schools from Kentucky. Quote
Zipmeister Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 They would make a good travel partner for Ohio U. Quote
LZIp Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Maybe Western Kentucky, not EKU. Quote
Dave in Green Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 How about EKU as a MAC replacement for UA if the Zips can land in a bigger conference? Quote

akzipper Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 FBS is already adding too many teams that nobody cares about. UTSA, Texas State, UMass, etc. No need for any more. Quote
72 Roo Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Would love to see EKU replace Akron as we move to something better. Now back to reality. Until football wins regularly we are not going to any better conferences. For now we need to be a football winner in the MAC. Quote
GP1 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 It doesn't matter if they join or not. I don't know why they would want to join the MAC. If your only option is the MAC, you don't move. Quote
GJGood Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 If the MAC were to pluck a school from the OVC I'd vote for Murray State. I know it doesn't fit as well geographically but they at least have a basketball program with some national recognition. Quote
UAZipster0305 Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 The MAC needs balanced divisions and hence an addition to the West Division. I strongly prefer the addition of Southern Illinois OR Western Kentucky in that order. Quote

I strongly prefer the addition of Southern Illinois OR Western Kentucky in that order. No thanks to SIU, and WKU just moved to C-USA so don't expect them to go anywhere soon. The MAC boards are all about adding JMU, and maybe Delaware if they ever get their act together. The other top candidates mentioned are a Missouri State/Arkansas State combo, and Stony Brook if they keep growing at their current pace. Quote

The other top candidates mentioned are a Missouri State/Arkansas State combo, and Stony Brook if they keep growing at their current pace. Why would we not want SIU? It is a great rivalry for NIU and they have a strong basketball program. Like I said, they help balance the divisions too. Missouri State and Arkansas State bring little and are poor fits geographically. If not SIU, I would support adding Stony Brook, JMU, and Old Dominion to get the MAC to an even 16 without UMass. UMass needs to join as a full member or be shown the door. Quote
tpsjugglerdude Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 From a basketball perspective I would prefer Eastern Kentucky out of the teams listed. They ended the year 70th in the RPI. SIU has a sub .500 basketball team and finished 192. Please not another awful team for basketball. Quote
