Game #6 Ohio

As a die-hard for all of my football teams I expect to win every game and take it very hard when we lose. However, each year I force myself to predict the outcome of each game before the season begins so I at least have a benchmark for how good or bad I SHOULD feel about the season.

I said we'd go 1-4 in the first five games and sure enough that is correct. Perhaps in a drunken :CK_brew: stupor, I predicted Ohio would be our 2nd W. The last time I made a prediction in my drunken stupor I said 39-38 Akron over Michigan and by god that almost happened...

We played tough against OU at their house last year, and I honestly do not believe OU is as good as they were last year. We've improved considerably in all aspects of the game...with the exception of offensive play calling, the jury is still out on that one...alas there is only one thing I can say: GO ZIPS.

Akron: 31

Ohio: 24

Zips needed a touchdown. Very bad playcalling again. Screen pass when your only blocker is the smallest guy on the field? Historically not awesome.

Got great field position, went right into the redzone and stalled.

We aren't a good football team and need all the points we can get...

Zips are playing to lose. They don't seem very interested in even scoring a TD...

Another week of embarrassment. If they don't care why should we?

I wish that I knew what they are thinking

wow, this is pathetic. I think I am done for the season.

Quite frankly at this point I don't care if they shut down the Football program and give the Stadium to the Soccer team.

Not even sure these clowns could handle intramural flag football....

The youth football team I coach has more discipline than this!!

This game is very reminiscent of the Ianello years. Get your shit and team together, Bowden. Pathetic effort by most of the team as well. Also, I've always been a Pohl supporter, but give me Hirschman. Looks like a deer in the headlights and freezes when he has any pressure at all.

the football stadium can not accommodate soccer because the stands angle in near the end zones.

Ohio just tallied its fourth sack of the afternoon. Akron had not allowed a sack in its last three games.

From the one quarter I watched, Pohl looked like Weeden out there. He was staring down receivers, holding on to the ball way too long, throwing short passes and the only throws downfield were way off. Is Hirschman out for the season or what? I don't care what Pohl did against Michigan. It was one game and these losses are showing that he can't get it done.

There is a lot wrong with this team. But if you can't score you aren't going to win. The defense isn't good enough to win us game or even keep us in games.

I'm mad, disinterested, disappointed, but I will never give up on the Zips. I guess one day if this ever gets turned around we will appreciate the wins that much more.

I'm sad to say that Ohio's game was probably the last game I will attend as an undergrad. I have far too much going on to sacrifice any time on this nonsense. If Bowden can't pull this program from the Abyss, I'm sorry there is absolutely no one who can, so spare the Tressel crap, because Tressel isn't even good enough or even has enough courage to save this program.

Visiting from California. Had a very successful tailgate session. Successful because I drank so much I didn't care at all about the actual game. Though it was nice to trash talk the OU fans when we had the commanding lead (3-2) going into the Stadium.

Thanks Zips football for giving me the day that, deep down, I expected.

I won't give up and I knew this was going to be a really rough stretch but with the pouring down rain, trailing 30 to 3 and generally looking completely inept I did something I've never done at a Zips game before. I left the stadium at halftime. Not happy I drove several hours for that

Off the top these guys stink. That includes Bowden and his coaches, especially on offense. Didn't have these guys ready to play today. The regression, especially offensively is,well, offensive. As soon as Hirschman is healthy he plays. Kyle Pohl becomes an assistant coach the rest of the season. Chisholm finds the far end of the bench. All the senior linemen on offense go to #2 on the depth chart. All seniors in the secondary go to #2 on the depth chart. The underclassmen can embarass themselves at home just as well as the seniors can. 2-16 after 18 games of the Bowden era.

Watching NIU toy with Can't State in the first half, then drop the hammer,on the road in the second. Another ass whuppn' comin' up at DeKalb next week.

Bowden is on the verge of losing this team for the rest of the season. He needs to do something drastic.

Unfuckinexcuseable. I'm so pissed right now, they had better get their crap straightened out or I'm not renewing my season tickets next year.

The biggest problem I saw was the players didn't want to be there. Ohio came to play, The Zips showed up because we had to. I don't know if it was the weather, but they had no motivation. The players looked like they didn't want to be there, and before long the fans did too. And they had HAD a nice crowd. Halftime looked like the exodus. I doubt a lot of them will come back.

I love 16, but he was completely ineffective out there. I thought I was watchign Brandon Weeden. He couldn't move and was a sitting duck. Most of his passes sailed over the receiver's heads or five yards in front of them. Was he overleading them, were they slow because of the turf, or did they just not give a crap? Whether it was his lingering injury or what, he was INEFFECTIVE. Why was he still in there?

Because of that, the play calling was atrocious. All we could do in the second half was run, apparently right up the middle. And it didn't take Ohio long to fill the box, either. Why wasn't Hirsh brought in? Was it just because when the receivers did have the ball hit them in the hands, it bounced off?

Special teams were a total loss. I've seen JV teams play better special teams. Staring down five green jerseys and still trying to get a return. Fumbling the ball. Hitting the return man on a fair catch. WTF?

Excuse my French but I haven't been this pissed off in a long long time. I stuck with this team through the Brookhart ship wreck and the I-a-don'tknow era (because we knew they had no talent and the coach was an idiot). But this is the same team that had Michigan by the short ones, and Louisiana. Which makes what we witnessed today even more unacceptable. If this is how its going to be, I'm not renewing my season tickets next year.

I'll go back and see what everyone else has now.

Watched on ESPN3. Akron had players smiling on the bench as the team was being embarrassed. This plus the numerous personal fouls tells me too many are playing for personal gain and to hell with the team. OK, so be it. I'm fine, but Akron football is reeling from a knockout tonight. We may need to bench some of our dirty dozen, among others, until they remember what it takes. I'd start players like Petrides and Conner Seeman in our next game.

I just got home from the Wake vs. NCAA State game. Beautiful sunny North Carolina day, the team I have season tickets for won making the $100 per game I spend worth it, saw some well played football by both teams.... All in all, a good day. How are things around here?
