After that, it’s go time for the bowl’s new lease on life. Mason said his investors will pump $10 million to $12 million into new turf, an aluminum overdeck system that will cover the concrete and seal it from further decay and a pre-fabricated press box. “We’re actually looking at putting a dome on the stadium,” so that it could be used year-round. zipsfan33 Posted October 18, 2013 Report Share Posted October 18, 2013 The original founder of the USFL was caught for embezzlement, and the new board has no interest in coming to Akron because they want to control stadium, revenue, housing, etc. So for some reason the group that wants to refurbish the stadium is holding an auction for this junk. The scoreboard sold for $1,000.00. But anything cool or of nostalgic value has been long gone from that place. On a positive note: the hype brought Fox 8 news down.
