Captain Kangaroo Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 The Washington Generals of D-1 basketball arrive at the JAR Saturday night. Not a juggernaut by any stretch. Hope they don't press us. Quote
skip-zip Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 I had that thought in 2010 also.... And then they came here and took us to Overtime. Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted December 11, 2013 Author Report Posted December 11, 2013 I had that thought in 2010 also.... And then they came here and took us to Overtime. True. But now we're starting Ibitayo and Betancourt. Quote
skip-zip Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 True. But now we're starting Ibitayo and Betancourt. Interesting. We were "experimenting" with guard combinations back then too. We were starting Abreu and playing McNees at the off-guard, and bringing Darryl Roberts off the bench. It didn't last long. Thank God. We ended up winning a title by putting Steve back to the point, and starting Darryl again. Maybe a similar outcome will eventually come out of this situation also. Quote
Jalapeño Zippy Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 I see they have a couple of kids from Toledo on their roster and one from Akron. That caught me a little by suprise. Quote
Dave in Green Posted December 11, 2013 Report Posted December 11, 2013 They beat up pretty badly on Trinity Baptist and Trinity College, so thank goodness we're not Trinity Akron. I took a quick look at all their team and player stats, and none are worth mentioning. I apologize if anyone suffers from DiG stats withdrawal prior to this game. Quote
akzipper Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Last year we lost to Coastal Carolina and Detroit. We can lose to any team... Quote

Very disappointed in the lack of stats you provided. I also checked out their web site and came up with three notable stats: 11, 3 and 1&1. 11 - They only have an eleven man roster. We should be able to run them out of gas. 3 - These guys are Road Warriors; only 3 of their first 12 games have been played at home. 1&1 - Looking at the players photos it becomes apparent that they must be a close-knit group because they only had one white shirt and one tie that they all shared on photo day. Captain Kangaroo Posted December 12, 2013 Author Report Posted December 12, 2013 While not a statistic, I found it interesting that Malik Jackson won the on-campus "Sherman Hemsley Look-alike Contest" held last May. Quote
Zipmeister Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Been a while since you have had your eyeglass prescription checked? Quote
Captain Kangaroo Posted December 12, 2013 Author Report Posted December 12, 2013 Been a while since you have had your eyeglass prescription checked? Hey, I don't make the rules. Receding hairline is, by definition, Sherman Hemsley. It's the "Look-alike Law." Quote
The Hip Zip Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Last year we lost to Coastal Carolina and Detroit. We can lose to any team... And both were very good basketball teams. Detroit actually had some top shelf talent on that team. Quote
Dr Z Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 From the fashion section of ZN, sounds like Tree has a new look for tomorrow's game. Gone chop the fro off.— Demetrius Treadwell (@Tall_ass_tree) December 13, 2013 Quote
zippy5 Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 Weird, I tweeted the same thing yesterday Quote

johnnyzip84 Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 Hopefully it helps his Tree fro shooting. That's pretty clever Quote

ZachTheZip Posted December 14, 2013 Report Posted December 14, 2013 Not expecting much of a crowd tonight, with the weather and it being winter break for the students. Quote
akronzips71 Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 As usual. big hum in the audio. Why can't a school this big get it right? And the radio feed is fine. Go figure. Quote
akzipper Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 We should be blowing this team out of the gym. We are being embarrassed right now by one of the worst teams in D1. So sick of seeing unmotivated Zips basketball teams. Quote

So sick of seeing unmotivated Zips basketball teams. What game are you watching? Zips aren't blowing them out, but they aren't getting embarrassed by any means. It usually takes more than 7 minutes to blow a team out. Quote
akronzips71 Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 What I am watching is awful on and off video feed. Why can't they ever get it right? Quote

They might be up by 50 at the half instead of just leading by 31. Quote
