Looks like he opened up his recruiting since Buckley left. I really hope we dont lose all of our DB commits at the last minute because he decided to bail. Bowden was obviously stacking up here for a reason. We need help!!

I was afraid of that.

Between Bowden and Tressel we probably have more coaching "contacts" than any school. I have complete faith that we'll land a T Buck-level replacement very quickly. But the interim period, however short, might cost us Washington. Bowden's gotta be on the phone with him showing him some "love" and keeping the kid in the loop regarding the candidates/hire.

"Buckley is making a push for Washington at Louisville."...Is this considered dirty pool among coaches?

I'm not sure, since I have been following the Zips, I can't recall it happening.

It makes me lose a lot of respect for Buckley. Does he really think that Louisville needs to be poaching our recruits? That is a bad move on his part. He left us at the worst time of the year and then probably takes our best db recruit. Way to burn bridges man.

Is anyone naive enough to think this doesn't happen everywhere? This isn't burning bridges... James Franklin is burning bridges.

There is a large difference in a BCS school taking recruits from another BCS school. It is a whole other thing when a BCS school is taking recruits from a national bottom dwellar. Every db Lousiville has committed is ranked higher than Washington. Buckley has zero reason to take our recruits. How is what Buckley is doing any different than Franklin?

Well Vandy's class is down to 3 recruits from 20. Buckley took one recruit, a guy he recruited personally. Happens all the time.

And let's not pretend Vandy isn't a bottom dweller without Franklin.

No way does he have room for all of those guys. Franklin has taken (as of last night) 4 guys and PSU only has 2 spots open. He isnt going to release the entire class that already had signed on with Penn State in order to try and flip all his old recruits from Vandy.

Franklin has been there for a few years, so they arent a bottom dwellar. They have turned into a mid level SEC team and his recruits were good. You cant compare that to Akron.

Back to us...what do we have, about 7 or 8 solid commits? If we have more, you sure as heck cant confirm it on any recruiting sights.

You're telling me an assistant coach leaving and taking one recruit that he personally recruited is equal to or less acceptable than a head coach leaving and taking at least 1/5 of his class with him? Just so we're clear.

You miss the point. BCS to BCS it happens. I dont like it, but it happens. BCS schools should not take from the MAC. There is just absolutely no reason for it. All I am saying is that each situation is different and I figured Buckley would see that. I guess he doesn't. It doesn't really matter what I think. I just wonder what Bowden thinks about it, not that he would actually say in public what he truly believes.

Buckley has a job, and if he thinks Washington is good enough to play there, it would be silly not to bring him.

In the future if we recruit a DB and he is interested, does he back off?

I really dont feel like arguing about this anymore.

Bowden gave Buckley his first "real" coaching job. He did a nice job and got offered the same position at a BCS program. Good for him. However, I personally think it is in poor taste to then pursue the team that you are leavings recruits. It isnt how you say thank you to the guy that gave you your shot. Again...Louisville has no reason to poach recruits from Akron. If they do, Buckley should not have left.
