Regardless of the circumstances, you just can't resist taking a shot at KD, can you? They were calling for an isolation (1-4 clear out) for Q, but he and Tree had some mis-communication and Tree came up to set a screen (not planned).

Relax my friend :) You can call it a shot at KD if you want. I call it saying it as I see it without sugarcoating.

I am as happy as you that we got the win, but the lack of ability to draw a play has cost us games before and I don't want it to cost us again.

Q was unconscious with it on the line tonight. I have no problem with him running an iso. Props to KD for recognizing it, was just a miscommunication with him and Tree.

Always interesting to peak in on BobcatAttack.

Whenever feel shitty about the level of discussion on ZN I go to BobcatAttack. It makes me feel better.

"Akron is a terrible team with no talent and a little bit of luck" (per one OU fan)

One wonders if that particular OU fan considered what that statement implies about OU. But because he went to OU, we can probably assume he hasn't thought that far ahead.

I saw that. That was hilarious

Loved the win. It showed the team has the heart we all love at Akron. I may be in the minority but I did not like Q's decisions in overtime. He repeatedly tried to drive and make something happen when it wasn't there. I would rather he run the offense to free up an outside shot or cut to the basket. Our lack of a true point guard may be our achilles heal.

Regardless, I'm going to savor the anguish that the OU board is wreaking for a short while then it's back to work. This game may herald the emergence of a nice conference run that is the trademark of Zip teams lately.

Congrats boys! :champs::bow:

Honest question here. My dad was a professional basketball player and coach, he taught me a lot, and I've been following basketball for about 60 years now. For the life of me, I still can't definitively tell from watching a play fail whether it was primarily due to the coach not clearly drawing up the right play, uninspired execution by the players, good defensive counters, or some combination of the three. Can you please explain how you can so clearly tell the difference and blame it all on one thing? If there's something to look for that I'm missing, it would really enhance my enjoyment of the game to be able to know exactly what to look for in order to make that determination.

Just like you, I can't definitely tell from watching a play fail whether it was due to coach plan or player mis-execution. It is just frustrating to me to see that year after year, calling a time out to draw a play when we need a basket doesn't seem to improve our chances to get a good shot.

And since that has happened over the years, and with different teams and different players, the only common denominator is the coach. I may be wrong. This is just a fan opinion on a fan board, not a scientifically proven argument.

Anyways, my comment was not meant to steal the joy of the great win tonight. I guess I am just a perfectionist who can't enjoy a win without always looking for ways to get better and improve. And when I talk to KD, I don't get the feeling that he is so fragile and anti-criticism. Why do some of you (not directed to any one individual) feel that you have to protect him from his fans?

I just read their message board, and a zips fan posted on their board. Obvious he had been drinking in celebration of our win tonight, as there was poor punctuation and grammar. Anyway, the first person to comment about said zip fan, and hi. Lack of punctuation, made some snide remarks about it, and then failed tonuse any punctuation himself. Hillbillies

One thing I know for sure is that we are HORRIBLE at trying to stall for the last shot. EVERY TIME we have tried that in YEARS we have lost the ball, almost always without getting a shot off.

So on this ONE issue I am calling KD out. Play for a shot not the stall, it does not work for us. EVER.

I'm ok with holding the ball. The zips are pretty rough in transition D as well. Hate to lose a game on a layup. Came away with a victory tonight.

Just back from OU...

OU fans BLOW...aka the Blow Zone.

Sure they show up which I give them props. But they are a bunch of crybaby wanna be osu fans with the OHIO chant. Go away!

It's amazing that with every obvious walk or foul on OU the place complains like a bunch of babies..but when the same thing happened to the Zips they all go crazy.

Watch the game. Believe it or not, even OU commits fouls and turn it over. Deal with it! Stop complaining!

Excellent post. I, too, went to Athen for the game. Which, btw, I recommend the university chartered bus. The old advertisement

"ride the bus and save the fuss" works well.

Post game it seemed that the OU fans were in a trance. There was little anger; or upset. It almost seemed as if they expected

to lose. While a wonderful capacity of 13,000 (reported) the Convo Center is a dump with steep seating, sloped floors and

exceptionally poor sight lines. No paper towels irritated me, but, so be it.
