I'm disappointed that I won't be playing for a bears team that has the players and coaches to WIN the Super Bowl. I thank God for letting me live my dream of playing in the NFL for 8 years plus. It has truly been FUN! #blessed #lovethisgame"Hixon's career was hampered by injuries but it didn't stop him from winning two Super Bowl rings with the New York Giants. He played for the Broncos, Giants, and Panthers and was set to play for the Bears this season before the injury today.Hixon might be best known to Zips fans for catching the deep ball from Luke Getsy to win the 2005 MAC Championship Game. He always represented our university with class while he was here and continues to show Akron support via Facebook and Twitter. He's @domenik_hixon on Twitter - if you're on there, shoot him a congratulations on an excellent career. He's the type of player I'm thrilled to have represent UA. 1 Quote
UAZip0510 Posted May 28, 2014 Author Report Posted May 28, 2014 let's get him as a WR coachI'd absolutely love to have Hixon on our sideline. He could coach up the DB's and Special Teams as well. Quote
Dr Z Posted May 28, 2014 Report Posted May 28, 2014 Nice guy. Great to see that he can still be positive after such an injury-prone career. Good luck to him in his career after the NFL. NEVER gets old. Best Akron game I have attended. 1 Quote

I think it a sign from God that it's time to hang it up any time you tear your ACL three times in one day. Congrats to Hixon on his playing career. 1 Quote

But you have to admire his grittiness, playing on with a torn ACL, let alone two. 1 Quote
