ZachTheZip
As I type this, the top two threads on bobcatattack are titled "We suck" and "We don't suck".Zips should be favored to win this one.

johnnyzip84
Hopefully, KP16 will be able to play in this one although I'm sure it's way too early to know at this point. Our defense can win a lot of MAC games regardless as long as we don't turn it over.As if the team needs any special incentive, if the Zips can pull out a win over OU it will place UA football in unprecedented territory. Not once, not even in the (current) standard-bearing 1992 season, have the Zips EVER been 5-2 at the D1-A/FBS level. In my opinion, that fact alone puts this whole season and TB's tenure here at UA in proper perspective.
Balsy
This is the most important game in our conference schedule IMO. We're coming into the game 2-0, 3-game winning streak. The rest of our conference slate (with the exception of BGSU) is winnable. Ball State took an unexpected step back this season, as did Buffalo (getting knocked off by EMU today, puts them in the category of beatable). UMass and Can't go without saying as well.Ohio has always played us hard, it this is our chance to establish ourselves as a MAC contender. Are we a contender, or are we just a mere pretender? We need to be able to play MAC games, on the road, and win. This Ohio team has given up quite a few big plays. They put up 500 yards on BGSU...that may be a problem. Go Zips! This is the exciting season I've been waiting for my entire Zips career! Enjoy the ride Zips fans, Enjoy the ride!
lance99
Oh Ohio,This is another game that scares me. They could show up, or phone it in.Now it is a great thing that this game is not Halloween Weekend(trust me, they would be ready if this game was that weekend), but they have been a mess this season and will they be ready to play?I see a win, but will the Zips go out and phone it in themselves? Pohl be back? Condor be the man again? Will it be the unpredictable MAC this week? These are questions that I ask myself.
PB1719
The rest of our conference slate (with the exception of BGSU) is winnable. So BG is unbeatable? I'd have to disagree. I don't see any team in the MAC as unbeatable, by any conference foe. BG has faced another top 25 defense, and got trounced. Eastern Illinois held Wisconsin to thirty one less points than BG. The Falcons are a good team, but they aren't phenomenal.
Zipmeister
Good possibility this contest will be a sell-out.

With the exception of Ohio and BGSU, we SHOULD beat everyone thats left on our schedule: Buffalo, UMass, Ball St, Can't. Based on record alone, Ohio and BGSU should be a challenge, and we may win if we rise to the challenge.
ZippyRulz
Hopefully, KP16 will be able to play in this one although I'm sure it's way too early to know at this point. I hope he is OK. I don't know how much it will affect OU's preparation not knowing who starts but seems like we could milk the situation a little. Then again, they will have some film of both QB's. Woodson will need a good week of practice.
Balsy
Early score prediction.Akron 24Bobkittens 21The score is closer than it seems. This game will never be in doubt, the Bobkittens will score a late TD in garbbage time to bring the score closer than it ever was at any point of the game. LZIp
I'll wait to make my prediction once we get word on Pohl (if we ever get word on Pohl). Woodson didn't impress me much at all yesterday. He definitely could have played better.

Dave in Green
Woodson definitely has some moves that Pohl doesn't. But he's still raw and inexperienced and doesn't have good timing with the receivers. It's hard to say how quickly he'd develop if he were forced to start the next game in place of Pohl. But as far as I know there's nothing official on Pohl, so all we can do is speculate. GT's last report was that "his status is unknown." I did find a video on the Pohl sack:http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=11681529

UA1987
If Pohl is on the injury list this week, keep in mind that we have Hirschman in addition to Woodson. The spotlight could be moving Nick's way again, if he can play.

When you are the back-up to the back-up and the back-up has to start, then you automatically become the fan favorite and will have the spotlight on you. Dr Z
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=11681529Thank you, I missed that play. I was trying to "beat the line" at the beer stand before the end of the half. BTW, that was a terrible move by me. No more waiting in line. Akron now has the bottoms up fill stations. I hope they add the Zips logo to the magnet next year like UNLV. Good advertising opportunity. I was curious, so I looked it up, cups cost 45 cents instead of 10 cents according to this article from 2011. Might be less expensive now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wiu_IX14wLI

Hirschman played very good in his limited time last year. I'm not sure about his knee or his desire to play, but as he filled in well for Pohl before I would have to think he may be be taking some snaps with the starters this week and we may see him in the Ohio game if Woodson falters and Pohl has to sit. I have to wonder about the decision of Woodson at #2. Is it because he is a red-shirt freshman and has an upside and could transfer out? From what I've seen, Hirschman may be our best option if Kyle is out (let's hope this discussion ends soon with some good news about Pohl's health). GP1
This is bizarreNot really. I would call it "expected". The back-up QB is always the most popular player on the field on gameday.I'm old enough to remember when Clipboard Cliff Stoudt was a back up to Terry Bradshaw in the early 1980s and everyone always wanted him to play. After Bradshaw retired, Stoudt got his chance and promptly played his way out of Pittsburgh. Funny how life comes full circle. Stoudt's son is Cole Stoudt at Clemson and the back-up everyone always wants to play.

UA1987
Well let me backup this confused conversation. We are not talking about clamoring for a replacement to a starting QB (per the NFL comparison), we are talking about what reserve QB would be best to take this team to wins the rest of the year should Pohl be injured. I'm not sure it's redshirt freshman Woodson based on what I've seen and I think senior ex-Colorado QB Nick Hirschman may be better based on his performance last year. One of the posters on this topic actually agreed with me on the Miami game thread when he said that Woodson might drag down our offense to below average if he has to replace Pohl yet decides to contradict himself here. The wildcard is Hirschman's knee. Now this may seem bizarre or expected from the unfortunate dimwits that follow shitsburgh, but I think it is worthy of discussion. Go Browns and Zips!
