Another good, noisy Zips crowd today. No major issues with the reffing. Miami is a great passing team. They move the ball around so fast the Zips defense has trouble keeping up. Zips offense started well with attacks from all directions. Miami defense adjusted and took away options. Halftime adjustments needed. NBA scouts in attendance. Pat's performance should be starting to register.

Zips not yet ready to take on a team of Miami's caliber. But they're good enough for a 20+ win season.

Miami won't make the NCAA tournament.

Folks I don't know what you expected. Like really? You think with a bunch of freshman that Akron recruits we're going to be able to contend with "BIG" programs? Please...enjoy the ride with these guys, it's going to be a fun couple of years.

USC has had arguably more recent success than Miami. We slaughtered them. We were down, what, 5 at half? We can compete. I didn't "expect" them to lose by 28, and they shouldn't have. Miami probably won't be a tournament team.

This one was easy to analyze. They had a lot of people who could drive to the basket, we collapsed and helped, and they were disciplined enough to have guys spread out for open shots. We don't have the horses to chase people like that for 40 min.

What I'm saying is that we have a young team. An extremely young team, without it's dominating senior. The quality of freshman recruit that Miami would have is still going to be an edge above our freshman recruits, and had their dominating upperclassman. Young teams wear out fast, I'm not surprised we lost in the second half. By 28? No...but it's not time to get on the "same ol' Zips" because seriously...what can we expect at this point with such a young team?

This team is going to win a lot of games this season, and play exciting basketball. Enjoy the ride.

I dont think I agree much with this post. Miami is just over one season removed from winning the ACC. USC finished dead last in the PAC 12 last season and 9th two seasons ago. Beating Miami would have been nice (expectations aren't high, but they have talent), but I don't think we should get blown out like that to anyone. I also think they will win this tournament and go dancing.

Like I said last night, I expect growing pains. Really looking forward to Robotham and Antino Jackson the next 4 years. We have to keep the youth of the team without Tree in perspective (myself included).

Miami just upset #8 Florida the other night. They are well balanced, and I think certainly a tournament team come the end of the season, even in the tough ACC. They got hot; we got caught up in their game a little bit and it got out of hand. That happens to young teams. The good news is that when we played our game, we competed very well with them. It's just hard to do that for 40 minutes against a superior opponent. The Zips will learn discipline and how to keep things from spiraling out of control as the season goes on. I'm actually pretty happy at how we look right now, given everything that has happened with Tree. We'll make some noise in the MAC for sure.

All that said, the one thing we really shouldn't do is lay an egg in the consolation game. Coming out of this tournament 2-1 would be a great start for the Zips.
